The fortress is amazing for a walk around and explore what ancient times seemed like and felt like. It’s a bit pricey for the place itself. The ticket is 10 leva for a walk.
The walk is kid friendly and not to hard to make however in order to see some places there are many steeps and uphill which can be a bit difficult.
I recommend to go in the morning so there’s no line for the tickets and it has less tourists.

The fortress is amazing and considerably bigger than expected. There are spectacular views of the city. There is lots of information posted all over the fortress, however we had a tour guide who gave us fascinating insights into the whole history of the fortress, the palace and monastery etc within.

This place is huge. To see everything you would need all day. The main castle is really pretty inside and if you pay 3 euros to get on top of it - views are astonishing. The surrounding area is also nice, worth visiting and good for a walk. Some information is playing from the speakers but not all of it in English. However, upon entering we were asked if we needed an English guide. The most impressive view of this fortress is of course at night or the evening when the lights are on. It is a really nice site to see.

Very quiet place, and the view is amazing. You can overlook Trasavets Castle and the town behind the hill on the other side. Learning history, wandering the site, and touring around in the boutique museum inside, take your time to enjoy the old church vibe.

They also provide the railway service (with 5lev) from downhill to the top. The entrance is not the same as the fortress. You can ask the gas station staff to show you the way.

Very beautiful fortress, old throne room is under reconstruction. Only downside was the panoramic elevator was closed for the cold season. Entrance was ~6€ for adults

Cool place to visit! Nature around and an old fortress looks perfect. It was especially pleasant to get free tickets for 🇺🇦 during the war.

Just amazing. Before you even get close to walking up to the fortress, you can see its size from a long way out. Once you're in, do climb to the church at the top for the best views of the city. If you're hoping to find some sort of palace, you won't find it. It's already in ruins.

Great museum. It is small, but this would be a good first stop for anyone trying to get an overview of the area and its place in Bulgarian history. There is text in English.
On a sunny day the views of Tsarevets are best in the afternoon. You will see it with the sun behind you.

I expected less, but was nicely surprised from Trapezitsa. Mind you I love ruins and historical places, so I admit I'm biased.
We picked the one day the funicular isn't working - Monday, but the way uphill on foot isn't that bad. The price for adults was 6 leva for the fortress, never got to check for the funicular.
Once you get to it there is a great view toward Tsarevets, especially on the terrace on top of the info centre.
And then it's pretty much exploring the ruins, some are better preserved, some not so much. There are quite a few churches, some of which with partial frescos.
Excavation work was still going on and one of the workers pointed us toward where they were currently working.
Everyone was really nice and polite and we had a great time.

The views from the hill are spectacular. It is definitely worth climbing all the way up. You can find the ruins and restorations of over 17 churches and a touch of the second Bulgarian kingdom. It seems like an archeological site with great potential.

This is one of the three historical hills in Veliko Turnovo. It's a beautiful place with old ruins and churches as well as some beautiful views on the cityscape of Veliko Turnovo. If you are visiting the town, you should definitely get up here - it is worth your while.
