Delicious food, worth the 40 km drive there and 40 back. But better do a reservation in advance as the place is pretty busy and in case you want to try paella, order in advance, best when you do the reservation.

This is a very special place for food lovers. It's a rustic environment with gourmet cuisine. On the outside, one might not suspect the treasures hidden inside.
Must try the paella specialty - we bring our friends for birthdays especially to try this delicious marvel.

Awesome is a small word for the excellency of the food here! Really, you have to try everything (we didn't manage but will repair that soon). Also ask for the things that are not in the menu.

The unique part is that you get very good seafood in the mountains. Very simple looking place, but taste was great!

Very nice place. Food is tasty and not too expensive. Atmosphere is great. Seating and tables are very low quality but this adds to the atmosphere, it doesn't take from it.
Note that paelera specialties take time (around 40minutes) and must be pre-ordered before you come. Paelera preparation starts at noon.

Don't get fooled by the look. It is simply delicious. One of the best places in Bulgaria. The contrast between the simplicity of the place and exquisite food presentations is mind-blowing. We tried almost the whole menu. Can't recall when I ate so much 🤣 Reservation for a weekend meal is highly advised.

Don't expect much in terms of interior design. But, and it's a big BUT, the food is amazing! That's why you go there. The food! Incredible variety of sea food. Tried all the calamari they had. All awesome. And the paella is as close to perfection as could be.

Paelera is a classy restaurant, despite its not pretentious looks. The cook is a world-class one. Many people from Sofia and many other cities and villages come to the village just for the restaurant. The menu is large and not just on the book. It is recommended to call ahead before coming. The Paella is the house special and is worth trying it. The restaurant is located in the center of the village of Chekanchevo, which is only about 40 kilometers away from Sofia and the road to it is a very good one. You can also plan a very good outing coming here, as the village is located between Stara planina and Sredna gora mountains and there are wonderful tracks around. Almost in the center of the village there is a mount, where have been discovered plates from ancient
times, which are exposed in the National historical museum in Sofia. On top of the mount are a few monuments from more recent times.
