Excel Martial Arts Port Coquitlam

I highly recommend Excel Martial Arts in Port Coquitlam - my kids have been going there for a few years now and loving it, starting in the youngest group, and progressing to older group. Over these years it’s been so exciting to see them develop and grow there not just physically but mentally as well. I like how they focus on all aspects: technique, planning, strength, respect, self defence, control, and focus. They teach kids leadership skills and teamwork too. Being their best selves and trying their best. They see all the kids in class and cheer their progress. They never discriminate. I find It has a very healthy and easy atmosphere. The teachers are amazing, and the administrative staff is always nice and approachable. They care about the kids there, and I feel like they know about the actual needs of the families of the kids too. Thus, they provide afterschool care, and have proper hours summer camps (not just the ones where kids come for an hour or two to have fun, but the ones where the families have the child looked after when they need to work, and have them properly exercised, exhausted, and entertained the whole work day). We love date night movie nights too, where once a month they invite kids on a Friday night for an evening of martial arts, a movie and pizza, and us grown ups get a proper us-time for 3 hours. I’m happy we found them when we did, and I only have good things to say about them.

My son has been going to Excel Port Coquitlam for a year now, and everything about it has been absolutely fantastic.

The instructors really care, and are great at teaching, which isn't always the case. Everyone is very encouraging, and my son has grown a lot in that year, and he truly loves being there!

This is our first year sign up with Excel for Summer camp for my son. I like that they have different activities weekly that keep things interested for my 9 yo. One week they have Lego theme nd they even give out a Lego set for my son which made him very happy. This week they have Water Splash theme that they took kids out to different pools, park and even at the Co-op Otter water park at Langley.

The owners also very nice and easy talk to. Highly recommended.

This location has blown my mind on the thought and care they put into their summer camps. The last week of summer at the Enchanted Magic Academy has definitely made a long lasting memory for my son. From hand delivered invitations, to a super themed weekly schedule, complimentary full days, hands down, 5 stars! So grateful for this program.

Excel Martial arts is like are second home. My sons confidence has come along away since we started back in Febuary 2023. He has learned a lot from the program. We are happy with the amazing instructors and class schedule. Owners Noelle and Richard are both welcoming and helpful. My son also enjoyed the week of summer camp that he attended this summer! Very positive place to come to.

This has been the most incredible spring and summer camps for our daughter who’s 8 and has been coming for 3 years! She loves coming. Was shy in the beginning but has really come out of her shell. Noelle and team are great with the kids and always improving and upgrading the experience for the kids. You can tell they really care a lot about their time here. Highly recommend !!

Very impressed by their friendly staff! They were organized, welcoming, created such an encouraging vibe throughout the party! Other than cake and a couple of snack (which turned out to be unnecessary), I didn't really have to bring anything else. Excel Martial Arts has been an incredible journey for my son over the past year. Originally we were hesitant about bringing our son here as he can be a tornado but the patience Excel Poco has shown towards him has been a miracle! They work so closely with the kids, both my son and daughter felt so comfortable right away. They are unbelievably kind & understanding, it's been so rewarding for us! Highly recommend bringing your children here.

Excel’s program has been amazing at developing my child’s focus, muscle strength and confidence. The PoCo instructors are responsive to students needs and create a welcoming warm atmosphere while encouraging students to reach their potential.

Excel hosted the PoCo Pirates Parents Night Out fundraiser and all the kids had a blast. The staff were amazing and they always do such a great job with the kids! Whenever we have the opportunity, we always sign the kids up to attend the Parents Night out—it’s a win win!!

I'm a recovering helicopter parent and have been taking my son to parent's night outs and summer camps here for the last 2 years. I cannot say enough about Excel PoCo, as my son has always enjoyed his time there and the engagement he receives from the staff.

The owner, Noelle, is a family-oriented person, who clearly cares not just about the kids having fun, but also about providing a much-needed service to parents to help alleviate stress (which in turn, helps the kids). She has always been kind and flexible in my interactions with her, at times going above and beyond. I also appreciate her staff selection process, as one of the first weeks of camp this summer, my son was recognized for assisting the staff with clean-up and gifted a rubix cube. Over the weeks that followed, two staff members went to great lengths to help him learn to solve it, going as far as writing out and drawing strategies and directing him to other resources.

As well, Miss Syracusa recently became manager at this location and I love her firmness that she balances with great sensitivity. My son has moments where he boundary tests and I was pleased to see she established dominance in appropriate fashion. She too has gone above and beyond, one morning showing great empathy and offering accommodations when I shared struggles with severe migraine symptoms, which unfortunately included me bursting into tears. She took it in stride and displayed genuine empathy, following up with me later.

Another important thing to mention is the focus on safety, especially risk management around sun exposure.

And the value for your money is incomparable. Discounts are offered for registering in 4+ weeks of camp and for their pick-up and drop-off times, nowhere even comes close to those hours for the price.

And finally, I loved how parents are given the opportunity at camps on Fridays to tune in via zoom and see the martial arts skills they had been working on (board breaking!!).

My Son started his training in September and I can't believe what a difference it has made for him. His strength, endurance and coordination have all improved considerably. I cannot say enough good things about the level of instruction at Excel Martial Arts. They are truly committed to their students and provide a fun atmosphere for all. They have even inspired me to get out on the mat and start training. It is a pleasure to be part of such a supportive community.

Our child attends the After school care program with EMA and the changes for the better are tremendous! Child is more disciplined and better able to focus at home and school and their physical coordination is much improved. And there is the double of daily physical activity and after/school care. The instructors are amazing and give feedback on your child’s progress. I can’t say enough good things about Excel Martial Arts’ after school care!

My son has been a part of the Excel Martial Arts program for almost 4 years now. The quality of programming and teaching is outstanding! They care about all aspects from communication and teacher development, right down to allergies and especially Covid protocols. My son has grown in confidence and skill level because of the fabulous instructors and the enriching environment created by the EMA team. Thank you!

This place is pretty decent and worth the trial. All the options of independence, discipline etc are taught here. My son loves it!!!
