Saint-Constant Church

In 1750, six years after its founding by Monseigneur Pontbriand, Saint-Constant Parish saw its first church, a small timber-framed structure. As the local population surged, a larger stone church replaced it in 1795, situated in the current cemetery location.

By 1829, with over 4,500 residents, the parish recognized the need for expansion, leading to extensive renovations in 1835. In 1881, a decision was made to construct a new church across the street to accommodate the growing congregation and expand the cemetery.

In 1924, a fire devastated the church and surrounding buildings. A temporary chapel was erected until the current church was unveiled in 1927, incorporating the original stone walls but with altered arches and a shorter spire.

Today, Saint-Constant's church hosts musical events due to its exceptional acoustics, enhancing the city's cultural offerings. Mayor Jean-Claude Boyer highlights its significance as a cultural and heritage site.

The church's heritage value lies in its historical significance, architectural style, and authenticity. Dating back to 1880, it's the fourth church on the site since 1744, blending various architectural influences. It remains a focal point for worship and a symbol of Saint-Constant's history and community life.

Je suis allé au cimetière. À noter qu'il est en deux partie. L'autre partie se trouve l'autre côté du petit pond. Ça se fait à pied.

L église de St Constant est un lieu de prière et de partage. Ce lieu est chaleureux et rempli d amour.
J ai la chance de réaliser les banderoles du Carême et de Pâques avec les thèmes : Grandir dans la foi en cette période du Carême et Grandir avec le ressuscité pour la Pâques.
Notre curé possède un charisme incroyable et est un rassembleur.
Lui avec son collègue l abbé Pierre ont su créer un atmosphère amical et chaleureux. Nous sommes fiers de contribuer au développement de notre paroisse
