The Towne Winer

As someone who’s been brewing beer for years I was interested in getting into making wine as well. I ended up meeting Barrie when I was buying some equipment from his shop and he took multiple hours out of his day to explain to me the process of making wine. It’s clear to me that Barrie's knowledge and passion about wine making are second to none. I’ve been to many home brewing and wine shops over the years and without a doubt this has been by far the best shop I’ve been to. I hope to return to the Towne Winer again soon.

Barrie and Liz turned our 140 liters of 'soft' apple cider into hard cider. Turned out fantastic--beautiful colour, sensational taste. It's a real labour of love for Barrie and it shows. Really great experience.

Came in to The Towne Winer looking for supplies for making Mead and met Bear. He shared his knowledge and steered me in the right direction towards hardware and even giving me tips and insight on processes to improve the final product. He also offered me an amazing deal on second hand items in 10/10 condition!
They also have great knowledge of the hospitality scene in Guelph which was a plus for me since I have just moved here.

Just came back from from bottling another outstanding wine. Barry and Liz are amazing at what they do. Barry has mastered and created so many blends that just keep us coming back. We are relatively new to the Towne Winer, batch four, having been at other similar businesses this place is head and shoulders above all others. The quality of the wine masterfully created is always a hit at our table, wherever that table may be. And like others have suggested the conversation while bottling is always entertaining, thanks Liz.

The Towne Winer is a family-owned business, that makes you feel like part of the family. I've been a customer for years and have enjoyed Liz and Barrie's wine expertise & knowledge for a variety of whites, blushes & reds. Our latest Malbec find was amazing, and we'll be back soon for a bourbon-infused red (can't wait!). Always a great time at The Towne Winer!

Great experience at The Winer! 'The Bear' and Lizzie set me up with all the equipment and much needed know-how to get me started with wine making. I bottled my 1st batch of red wine yesterday. Lydia was very helpful and the wine was amazing. I'm trying to decide what to make next time. I would recommend the Town Winer for good reasons. They are super helpful and have a wealth of knowledge and the wine turned out amazing. I enjoy a smooth cab sauv and it was comparable to the Reds I usually drink. Definitely will be back. Thanks again for the delicious wine and all the expert advice.

This experience was terrific-from start to finish. Everyone involved was polite and efficient. I highly recommend the Towne Winer to enjoy the fun and experience in making your own wine. Great store. Knowledgeable staff and a fantastic atmosphere. Ordered 60 bottles for our Wedding later this year and had a great time finding the best suited wines.

We love The Towne Winer! We have been getting our wine from Barry and Liz for years now and not only is the wine fabulous, but the conversations during the bottling process are entertaining and enjoyable! Keep up the great work!!

First came Barrie & Liz who have been creating delicious wine for us for over 21 years, which began with the wine for our wedding. In more recent years The Towne Winer opened and provided more space for more wonderful wine creations! Most recently the lovely Liz suggested we try the baco noir infused with bourbon! I have only one thing to say, YUMMMM😋!! We'll keep coming back for more just so long as you keep making fine wines! Thank you for years of great wine.

First time wine maker - Great Experience, Great Wine!

Barrie and Liz are great! From the first time we walked in, to the first bottle we opened, the experience has been amazing. We plan on making this a family tradition as we look forward to bottling wine with Barrie & Liz every November. We are excited we have a very special wine to share with friends and family over the holidays. This is was my first wine making experience, first of many.

I used to go to Craft Wines with Stephanie. However I wish I knew of this business earlier. This is a small business owned by a very cute couple. The husband makes the wine and has a great amount of passion for his work. Asking me the sugar, alcohol amount, flavour profile I enjoy. I truly felt he tried to make a wine customized for my liking rather than a "one wine suits all"
Liz was fully prepared for when I went to bottle and I found the equipment very easy to use.
Made my first order and will make a second one very soon!

My fiancee and I discovered this gem of a place while looking for somewhere to bottle wine for our wedding. Oh man, I wish we'd found it sooner. We'll be buying wine from them on the regular from here on out.
I've never seen such quality wines at the price points they offer. It's astounding.
This is not homemade wine; Barry is a legitimate (and incredibly knowledgeable) winemaker. They offer an incredible range of varietals and styles from all around the world. If you're passionate about good wine, or even just curious to learn more, this is the place to go.
Liz was also incredibly helpful when it came to making decisions about pairing food and wine for our reception dinner, and they are both very personable and a delight to work with!

The best place for wining in Guelph! I've been going here for years. In a class of their own, this isn't your average wine making shop. Barry and Liz are always making new concoctions, aging wine in oak barrels, importing grapes from all over, and are the best at their craft. Highly recommended!
