Our dog Bishop had knee surgery 4 weeks ago. It’s been a long 4 weeks trying to keep her calm. But the doctors and support staff at VCA Canada Guelph Specialty Hospital are amazing. They talk to you in normal speech, not over your head. They take the time and listen to your concerns answer your questions. They respond to emails quickly. They show respect to your beloved pet. I hope we don’t have to go back, but if Bishop needs them I wouldn’t hesitate at all. I strongly recommend this clinic to anyone who is looking for that specialty vet service to help their pet. Bishop is well on her way to a full recovery.

Great veterinary specialty clinic. Dr Rutland and the staff are amazing. Took great care in addressing my dogs health issue, and took time in explaining everything. Also they provided a complete report on the condition for my vet and myself. I totally recommend this clinic.

My dog, Rocky, a 6½-year-old male Labrador Retriever, ruptured the cranial cruciate ligament in the knee (stifle joint) of his left hind leg. I didn't see it happen, but there was some deep late winter snow with a crusty surface at the time. In any case, although there were other options nearer to my home, my local vet and I agreed on referral to the Guelph Veterinary Surgery Services and I am very happy with the results.

Dr Laura Nutt was Rocky's surgeon. She and all of the associates with whom I dealt were both very professional and, at the same time, quite friendly and helpful to this client. Because of the travel distance involved, initial consultation, the surgery itself and subsequent release were scheduled for consecutive days. A copy of the referral follow-up report and extensive post-op care information was provided to me on Rocky's release. It was also agreed that our local vet would handle the suture removal and the 8-weeks post-op X-ray imaging with reports to Guelph for review and comment.

Rocky appears to be recovering nicely. As often happens, there was some delay in his resumption of normal bowel movements, but adding some pure pumpkin to the dog's regular diet took care of that. Less than one week post-op, Rocky's walking pace, both indoors and on leash outside, is already improving quite markedly and he appears to be putting almost normal weight that leg. There has been no obvious sign of infection or separation problems with the surgery wound itself.

Of course, Rocky will need to be kept under close watch for quite a while longer whenever he’s not resting in his “protective den” (a.k.a. the bathroom) with the door closed or on a leash to ascend or descend his outdoor exit/entry ramp. (Photo attached.) But I am very pleased with his progress and with the excellent veterinary surgery services provided.

Dr. Murphy did an excellent job repairing our dog's leg after he received a compound fracture when he was struck by a car. He is well on his way to recovery and we look forward to enjoying many more healthy years with our beloved friend.
All positive to say about Dr. Murphy and her team.

Adam is an absolute gem. We were referred here urgently after our surgeon had his own injury the day before our girl's knee surgery. Adam worked quickly to have our girl seen as soon as possible and on priority basis. Pricing is excellent, comparable to our regular vet. Very happy to trust our girl into the care of these professionals. Thanks Adam and Dr. Kirsch.

Very caring, excellent communicators and excellent surgeon....Dr Bos, Adam is also a favorite of my dog Moxi. They got her in for surgery quickly and she had both back knees replaced and has been up and walking at 2 weeks. Was a very good experience.

Dr. Halling and the Murphy Veterinary Surgery Services team were/are fantastic. Our dog, Maxie, had a torn CCL that required TPLO surgery. As a rescue Maxie has anxiety with strangers and strange situations but Dr Halling and the Murphy Team took the time to work with Maxie in a manner that minimized her anxiety while still ensuring she received the best care. They also took the time to answer my endless questions (months later) and provide detailed instructions on how to help Maxie with her recovery. Four months later Maxie is doing very well - playing and running. I can't thank Dr. Halling enough for looking after our girl so well.

Our boxer Lennon was diagnosed with OCD shoulder lesions at 9 1/2 months old, at 11 months he had the surgery to correct it. Dr Bichot did a wonderful job on him and the entire staff there made us feel comfortable placing our trust in their hands. Lennon had the surgery June 4th and is now back to running at the park, playing with other dogs, going on trail walks and living his life the way that he should be. Thank you to everyone at Murphy's!
