During the past two summers, I have visited the Lower Selma Museum five times, enjoying the progress made during renovations and receiving A-I tours from the well trained , knowledgeable summer staff who took pride in their work and sharing information and stories pertaining to the artifacts. I enjoy the museum's Facebook page and marvel at the great amount of work that has been accomplished- cemeteries, renovations to the museum building, the exhibits and records. Beautiful setting, too. Kudos to the board, staff and volunteers!!! Well done!! The walls are striking( There's a story there and the guides are excellent story tellers..)

I first became aware of the Lr. Selma Museum when I saw a documentary film at the Atlantic Film Festival a few years ago. I think it was called East Hants This is us or something like that. Finally this summer I got to make two visits.

It is an impressive little museum housed in an old church in a beautiful setting. I had seen the excellent videos on the 84th Regiment on Facebook and as I am descended from at least 4 of the members I was very interested in exploring their resources. With the help of Jenna MacPhee, the museum summer employee whose ancestors we share I was able to flesh out my genealogies. She has a keen interest in the MacPhee family history and could quickly find information in the many resources at the museum.

Also it is a beautiful drive from Windsor whether you follow the coastline or go through the beautiful countryside around Kennetcook.

If you are a resident of East Hants, or "from away" with an interest in the history of East Hants, the museum in Lower Selma is a must see. The members of the East Hants Historical Society have accumulated an amazing collection of artifacts collected over years of donations from residents and others. Each artifact has a story of its own. Along with the artifacts are many archival documents related to community histories and genealogies! A wonderful place!
