Fantastic book store with tasty Cafe and cinema upstairs. Have been coming here for years but first time back since Covid. Still great. Great staff. Great collection.

The COOLEST book store around. Please don’t order from Indigo or Amazon. They can order whatever you like and it’s an awesome local business. Great selection of inclusive books from supporting women to LGBTQIA+, to all the classics. They’ve even got frisbees for frisbee golf!

Cool bookstore with lots of selection of books and a great place to get new movie posters! Definitely one of the places to visit in Guelph!

The feature film, The Immediate Family, was fabulous. Great music mixed with heartwarming connections among life-long musician friends.

I visited in-person for the first time since COVID and it's still the same warm and cozy bookstore you'd expect in a romanticized movie.
Coming in from the rain on a slow Froday afternoon, I'm greeted by friendly staff and their selection of new and recommended books. The in store selection is smaller than chapters, but every book seems worth your time and interesting, as if it were curated just for you. They're also able to order basically any book you'd like, so don't be shy about asking for a book you want but can't find.
The store is clean, the shelves are tidy and the atmosphere is calming.

As I checked out with Ishiguro's "Klara and the Sun" in hand, I had a nice chat with the person on cash about the book. Special note: their bags are also compostable.

I really love the Bookshelf, and I can't wait for it's theatre to open again. It's a genuine part of what makes Guelph feel special and like home. Please support this local bookstore.

A lovely little bookshop that is warm and inviting. I thought it was a used book store before going in but quickly realized it is all new books. The children’s book selection in particular is excellent- so many wonderful treasured books to choose from. Overall I find they had a really good eye for the quality and integrity of books they carried on the shelves, and seemed to be very accommodating for ordering books in if they were not in store. I found the prices very reasonable as well. Maybe $1-2 more than Amazon would charge, but nothing beats walking through brick and mortar stores and supporting local businesses. I came home with the 40th anniversary full collection edition of Brambly Hedge for my kids for $30 which was an amazing find and is already a family favourite. Definitely worth a stop if in the area!

Took my daughter to watch Asteroid City. First time I'd been there since university in the late 90's. Updated, but not so much as to lose that small venue feel. Happy to share this spot with my daughter, and we will definitely be back.
We'll also be spending some time in the bookstore - upon insistence by my girl... :)

A wonderfully curated selection of titles across a large variety of genres and areas. The staff is welcoming and helpful. Always worth a wander, and I often come home with a new read.

Love this place. I don't get the warm and fuzzies from the staff to be honest but I'd rather spend my money with a local place over a big box store. I can always find a book and if they don't have it they can order it. This time I was after books for my daughter (11) and found a few great options.

Perfect place to visit on a rainy afternoon...laughed during a movie (saw The Holdovers), dined on delicious pizza and kombucha, and walked out with a book that was too enticing to pass up!

They have maintained the classic, small-movie theater experience wonderfully since I started visiting there 15 years ago. The recent renovations have done nothing to diminish its character. Great snack options and great movies! Thank you, Bookshelf!

One of my favourite stores in Guelph. A little bit of everything (book related). I feel happy just walking in and I always leave with a great find.

A bookstore with carefully selected books, a movie theatre screening films that can be hard to come across in major chains and a restaurant with delicious food and ciders of all kinds....what more can you ask for?

A really cute little book store. They also have a restaurant section where you can get drinks and stuff. I like the concept, it seems really nice and fun. The prices are sometimes cheaper than chapters as well so that's awesome to see. Happy to support this small business!

Such a great local spot. Seeing a movie is charming and love not giving Cineplex more money. Great book selection. Get a membership it's worth it!

Best curation of books ever! I always find a winner when I visit. Their selection of local writers is terrific. Love the cards too. Would appreciate more magazines again though! Last time I was in, they explained to me that they had past issues receiving magazines but I hate supporting big stores when I could support this amazing local one.

I have enjoyed the Bookshelf for books and movies for years. Staff is always friendly, the store is organized well, and they do a good job updating the website. I was looking for a new book and before checking the big boxes I checked out the Bookshelf....they had the book, same price, easy ordering, and free in Guelph delivery on the next day. Buy local, especially when local is run this well.
