Guelph Family Martial Arts

I started attending aerobic kickboxing classes in Apr '23. I was uncertain of what the class may be like, based on my own apprehensions. I was welcomed and encouraged to go at my own pace by Nathan and Sophie. They are really great with making all feel welcome. The past 9 months of attending classes have been amazing. I have seen a definite improvement in my physical and mental health. I'm excited to attend classes as they are always different and fun. People I have met while attending are great as well. I highly recommend this martial arts studio to anyone looking for a great workout!

Amazing teachers and helpers. I dont know how they do it, but they connect with every student and interact with each parent. It truly is an amazing atmosphere to walk into. Always greeted with a smile and kind words. My daughter has been going for almost a year and she has really blossomed out of her shell. Amazing amazing people to be around. Thanks for all that you do for the community. As a single mom I never thought my daughter would connect to another male figure. Such an amazing person and atmosphere. Guelph Family Martials Arts has been such an incredible experience for our family! Whether you're an adult that's always wanted to to try it, or just for your kids (or both) I highly recommend you train here! Speaking from experience as a former 3rd degree martial artist, it doesn't get better than Sensei Nathan and Sensei Sophie. Go in-person and get more information (there's family classes!), they are so friendly & welcoming and amazing with children of all ages. Whether it's for fitness, self-defense, confidence/self-esteem, focus/discipline it's all here! 🥋💕

For a while I’ve wanted to try martial arts but never found a place that was inciting enough to commit to. As an adult, and first timer in martial arts, my experience could’ve been uncomfortable at my age but Sensei Nathan and Ms. Skoufis have created an incredible atmosphere. From day one, I’ve felt welcome. The instruction is world class and very applicable to all ages. They teach a variety of martial arts, which I really appreciate and having a multi-world champion lead you feels pretty good too. This place has exceeded my expectations.

My son loves going to GFMA they are vary friendly people there . This class has help my son lots, helps him use his energy in a positive way.

My youngest was having a hard time after COVID, he didn’t want to talk much or do much, but working with Sensei Nathan and his team has made a huge impact on him! He is feeling much more confident, he’s really come out of his shell, and it’s been noticed at home and at school. He loves coming here!

Fantastic dojo! Sensai Sophie and Sensai Nathan are incredible. They teach not only martial arts but also confidence, self control and humility.

Sensei Nathan is an excellent, encouraging teacher! He's very good with kids as well as adults. He is also a repeat world champion, so he knows his stuff!

Our whole family has benefited greatly from attending classes at Guelph Family Martial Arts. The children are greatly encouraged and motivated by their instructors. They receive quality instruction and have fun. My kids have gained more confidence and skill. With the flexibility of the class schedule, the older ones can easily practice leadership in helping out in the other classes. This way of learning is very beneficial and positive. My husband enjoys the class to it pushes him to keep going and be healthy. I can also go to the kickboxing class which has made me feel better emotionally and physically. I really appreciate the kindness and dedication of Sensei Sophie and Sensei Nathan.

This family run business is absoluelty amazing. The love and compassion they have for these kids is beyond unbelievable. Our son has been there for 2 years and loves going twice a week, always speaking about what he has learned.

Absolutely amazing place to learn martial arts and a great place for kids (and adults) to learn respect and discipline. My 7 year old son and I both attend and love it. The instructors and are extremely knowledgeable and more importantly they are fantastic people. The atmosphere of the studio is very friendly and supportive. If you are thinking about martial arts or fitness, than GFMA is the place to go.

Our four-year old son loves coming to Guelph Family Martial Arts. Sensei's Nathan and Sophie are amazing with all the kids making them feel comfortable and welcome.

They make it fun for the kids but incorporate skills and discipline at the same time. The studio is at a perfect location with a flexible schedule for busy parents.

I have been consistently going to Guelph Family Martial Arts for many years and have enjoyed my time here. Both instructors are very encouraging, knowledgeable, and kind. I would recommend Guelph Family Martial Arts to anyone as they are family-friendly. They teach us that being a martial artist is more than being able to punch and kick. Alongside the physical aspect of martial arts, they teach us core life skills that benefit us day to day. Lessons such as how to manage emotions, empathy, etc. Overall, I would highly recommend Guelph Family Martial Arts to anyone wanting to start martial arts, learn new skills applicable to everyday life, or even just have fun! GFMA is an amazing studio with a wonderful community!

My daughter and son have been attending GFMA classes for 2 years now. Not only do they love Sensei Nathan and Sensei Sophie, they have learned so many positive things, have kept active through the pandemic and have become more confident and responsible. They typically attend 2 to 3 times a week and my daughter (11) has been helping with some of the classes with the younger/newer kids. She loves it so much. GFMA is very involved with community events which we love and we are proud to be a part of the GFMA family.

My daughter is going on her 2nd year of karate here and she loves it! Sensei Nathan and Ms. Skoufis are amazing teachers and are so good with kids, like really good. It is the perfect environment for kids to use their energy while learning to respect one and another and build on core values. I would highly recommend GFMA to anyone. They are also very involved in the community and its always fun seeing them out at different events.

Very caring and thoughtful instructors! I would highly recommend for students of all ages. This studio is a community pillar and is heavily involved in the enrichment of many lives through their engagement and involvement.

This studio is awesome, we signed up over covid and have loved it. We heard about this program and studio from many people like many of you. They are very patient, caring and true professionals in everything they do. The accomplishments are well-known but the dedication to this community is remarkable. My little ones are very shy and they took the time to ensure they felt comfortable. Awesome job! Highly recommend!

Sensei Nathan and Mrs. Skoufis are amazing with all the kids, they know every name, they look out for each and every person that walks into that studio. The setting is very welcoming. I joined the Fitness Kickboxing Class at Guelph Family Martial Arts (GFMA) about 3 months ago and have had the BEST experience. I tried out a few kickboxing programs in Guelph and GFMA is by far the best!! Nathan is an incredible instructor! He makes you feel comfortable and motivates you to do your best workout while having fun. Sophie is the kindest person you'll meet. It's always lovely chatting with her after class. The two of them have created an incredible environment that is friendly, fun and makes you feel like you're part of a family. I can honestly say that I look forward to my evening workouts at GFMA. Since joining I feel stronger, happier and have lost weight. If anyone is thinking of joining, I HIGHLY recommend signing up!

I started at the studio with my kids and it has been an amazing experience for them, they have learned many life skills from the program. Everyone is treated with kindness and the instructors are very professionals. The awards the studio has received are well deserved and the instructors are members of Team Canada and World Champions. The studio has classes for students of all ages and the classes are offered throughout the week so students can attend whatever day works best for them. It has really changed our families life and has made many improvements. It has kept them physically fit and mentally strong which is so needed in the world today. Simply put they are the best in the area . the best martial ats or karate program anywhere around and I would highly highly recommend the program to anyone.
