Braeside Country Inn

This is a wonderful historic Inn which has been updated and well maintained.
The common areas are nicely decorated and pleasant. We had a king suite which was very comfortable for our three night stay. The continental breakfast had a nice variety to choose from. The view of the harbour is amazing. We were able to walk to several shops and restaurants on the waterfront. The owner, Linda, was a gracious and helpful hostess. I would definitely recommend this Inn and hope to be able visit again.

Very lovely stay at Braeside inn which has hundred years of history. Lots of interesting history and facts with this inn, the room is a little dated given the history but clean and feels like home. It’s a old house but very well maintained. The host Linda is very friendly and helpful. Very quiet and bed is comfortable too. Great location in Picton, walking distance to waterfront. Lots of nice restaurants nearby, the town even has free concert every night. What a great town.

Another super amazing experience is there were a family of deer lives around this property. As we drove in, the deer mama and 3 baby deer were just chilling in the garden of Braeside inn. And they won’t even running away. Waking up in the morning looking outside of the window and the deers were there again, what a relaxing experience.

Lovely inn, very cute location, a small 5-10 minute walk to the waterfront where there is a good selection of food. The hosts have done an excellent job at displaying not only the history of the building itself, but also about themselves and how they came to own the inn. A nice touch that we loved was the world map with pins where guests had travelled from. We stayed in a smaller room on the top floor and loved the little touches the hosts had made to make each room its own. Each room had different coloured walls with flowers that matched the room colours, which I thought was incredibly cute and clearly showed a love for their inn. The inn itself creaks when you step in certain spots, but that only made it feel more historic, and really sang true to the history of the place. The beds were comfortable, the rooms were incredibly clean, and we couldn’t have asked for a better place to spend the night in Pictou. One thing to note is that there is no elevator, but we did not find any issue bringing our suitcases up the stairs, there is a landing on each flight for you to catch your breath if needed! We will for sure stay here again if we are in the area!

I had an absolutely lovely experience during my stay. Clean room, comfy bed, lots of TV channels. The building is quaint and charming, beautiful decor. The host was friendly and helpful and there were flowers everywhere! Breakfast was simple yet nice and the location is quiet and serene.

We loved our stay at the the Braeside! Fantastic owners/operators. Continental breakfast was included in the room. Everything in the hotel is spotless and well cared for. The room was comfortable and we were thankful for the air conditioning during a heatwave during our stay. A great option for accommodations if staying in Pictou County. We will be back!

I was there for a business trip and was very satisfied with the location I picked kind of randomly as I have never been to Nova Scotia in the past.
I haven’t slept so well for a while!
Sleeping on top of the mountain surrounded by trees and wilderness is so soothing for your mind!
The hotel itself is a piece of arts with solid wood everywhere.
The last but not least is the service provided by Linda the owner/manager attentive to all your needs and requests.
I will definitely comeback at my next visit to Nova Scotia.

Was a last minute booking and they had one room left. It was so beautiful a setting from driveway on. The owner was a sweetheart and so accommodating. Stayed two nights and was made to feel like family. Will go again. Always they were cleaning and wiping even bedclothes smelled fresh and sanitized. Breakfast was also better than I expected.

We had a great experience staying at the Braeside Country Inn. It’s a charming century old property which is really well maintained and very clean. Great views of the bay from our room and the dining room. The host is friendly and thoughtful. The hot water is a little slow, but it’s endless.

I spent a week in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, a new hotel every night. By far this was my favorite stay, in fact I wish I had been able to stay longer. The most gracious host, beautiful historical building. Not only do I plan on visiting again for longer but I tell everyone about this Inn. And please read the owners book, wonderful story.

Stayed at the Braeside recently and was wowed by the charm of the building kept in its original state. Felt like I was in an art deco Hercule Poirot movie. Our room had issues with no hot water and we were promptly moved to a better upper floor room with a lovely view of the ocean. Linda our host was great and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will return and recommend this gem of a hotel in Pictou. Even Princess Anne dined here in 1991 so you will love it. Thanks LInda !

We had a *very* short stay. This review is really to acknowledge the kindness of the innkeeper allowing us to check in late at nearly 11pm and she opened breakfast 10 minutes early for us to get to our PEI ferry departure on time. These were significant impositions on our host and she made us comfortable after a long stressful drive in torrential rain to Pictou. Many thanks.

Great stay, the Inn is just shy of 90 years old and it has been fantastically well kept. Breakfast was good enough considering covid restrictions, and the rooms were comfy with decent TVs and immaculate views. Really enjoyed the lightning storm over the bay last night!

Linda is an amazing hostess and has an architecturally stunning inn! I had a comfortable corner room with two white linen double beds and an ocean view. Slept well. But important to say here is that I lost my diamond stud earring because I was talking on the phone with my husband and not paying attention while I was putting my earrings on. It must have fallen on my sweater while I thought I put it in my ear. Long story short when I noticed it wasn't in my ear Linda said she would ask her daughter to help find it as she has good eyes. Apparently so! I had to leave for the day but while I was gone Dana found it on the hardwood floor in the huge dining room. A miraculous feat. But what struck me was how thoughtful and caring Linda was when I mentioned I lost it. The time and the energy both she and her daughter took to find it, well... astounding. Not sure a chain hotel would have given me that kind of positive, caring experience. I am so grateful to both of them! Yes they even went through my trash cans, and her flower arrangements and the area I ate breakfast in their beautiful dining room. Linda called me immediately to let me know Dana found it on the dining room floor! Made my day and restored my hope for humanity! Seriously, I was not only impressed they found such a little thing but that they are so thoughtful and caring of their guests. I know where I will be staying the next time I'm in the area! 100% The Braeside Country Inn!

Very friendly family owned business. We felt welcome, the Inn itself had character. The continental breakfast was great....hard boiled eggs, toast, muffins, cereals, oatmeal, watermelon, apple/orange juice, coffee, tea, etc.nice view of the water and very quiet.

This is a nice hotel a little off the beaten path. The owner was very accommodating as we had bicycles instead of a car and allowed us to store them securely overnight. Breakfast was included as well, which was a nice touch.

This place is beautiful. The architecture is stunning with a rich history. The rooms a done up well. Ac, celling fan, fridge, and a nice veiw of the harbour. The morning breakfast was done lovely. Cereal, toast, eggs, coffe, orange juice, yogurt. Highly recommend you to pick this hotel over anyother in pictuo

Lovely place to stay. Stopped here for a break during my hike across PEI and Nova Scotia. Room was clean and quiet and the location was in easy walking distance from food

The view of the tall ships from my room is unbelievable. The hostess is wonderful, her daughter is very kind and polite. I adore this place.
Highly recommend.
