Flint House

I liked this place. Really good service and polite waitresses. Excellent and interesting food. I ordered a blueberry lavender lemonade, a barley soup, a hamburger and a stake on a loaf of bread. Everything was nice. I also like the atmosphere in the restaurant and design. A little loud music but it's not too bad. I can recommend this place for sure!

The Flint House was a fantastic experience all the way around. The service was as good as the food! We would recommend this restaurant to anyone on either side of the border. The food was clearly prepared with love and care.

Once again the Flint House knocked it out of the park for us.
Have read a few recent reviews on how slow the kitchen is. Even though the restaurant was busy, a slow kitchen was not the case for us. The timing between our appetizers and mains was perfect. We were not rushed through our meals, nor was it at a snail's pace.
The staff was attentive. The food was tasty. The veggies were crisp. The steak was blackened just right. Cannot complain about the serving size of the fish tacos. So much food. Their addition of the Firecracker dessert is a great way to finish a meal, for either a sweet tooth or a spice lover.
If I had to find a flaw, it would be that the arancini appetizer was not as crispy as it could be.

Very nice restaurant with a great atmosphere. I like the rustic decor. The food (mussels) was excellent, it would be nice to have a small bowl of water and lemon for washing hands.
The toilets are also very clean.
This would be a favorite restaurant if we lived here.

April 2024 - Had an excellent lunch, and the service was top-notch... just shy of perfect in my books.

July 2024 - I keep fearing going back to the Flint House because my experiences here have been so good that the pessimist in me expects the next time to be sub par. Not even close so far! Filet Mignon was perfectly cooked, the veggies were deadly... yes the veggies and the Firecracker Apple cake is the different dessert I've been seeking for a while!!

I ordered cantilever chicken for my main and didn't wanted onions. When my dish arrived the server informed me the chef replaced the onion with candied bacon. It was delicious 🤤🤤. The best service and accommodation I have ever received even without asking. The whole experience was awesome

Brandon is a phenomenal server. Dedicated to his tables, friendly and very polite. The rest of the staff seem lovely as well. Drinks are pretty and they taste good too, very beautiful interior and nice placement across from town square. Definitely a highlight to check out if you’re ever in town😊

Consistently excellent meals. Diverse menu with something for everyone. Amazing atmosphere. Wonderful staff. Definitely a ‘must do’ when in Fort Frances! (My favorites include the Cantilever Chicken and the Prime Rib)

Wonderful eclectic restaurant with tons of local history. Menu was incredible. Food was great and service was fast and friendly. Recommended!

Really enjoyed our dinner here. Serving was well sized. We shared an entree and appetizer and we had some to take home. Forgot to take a requisite photo. Sorry!

Fantastic place. Busy Friday night and waitstaff were able to get us in. She was very friendly with great customer service. Food was really good. Highly record the steak sandwich and prime rib sandwich.

Very impressed. For a small town this was a very nice place. Small, maybe 10 tables, we made reservations when we arrived in town, about 2:30. Glad we did. 4 drinks, split a half salad, 2 burgers with fries, desert and tip, less than $90 US. Very good service, food came out at a nice pace, we didn't feel rushed. Very good food, again, my wife and I were very impressed. Highly recommend this establishment!

I cannot even begin to express my absolute gratitude and appreciation of this team. The food was exceptional, the atmosphere and staff were amazing and the management team is incredible! Last night we showed up for a reservation, we asked for a quiet little table for a date night, we were so well taken care of and we had an absolute blast. Thank you so much, we so look forward to coming back again and again!

The Flint House is easily the best local restaurant in Fort Frances. The atmosphere is great, the waitresses are very friendly and thorough and the food is excellent!

I love the overall look of the place. The tin roof is stunning, the brick walls and black metal details are really slick and the wall outlets even have USB charging ports in them! The attention to detail is very much appreciated.

The washrooms are nice and spacious and have some nice details in them as well. They definitely add to the overall experience.

Simply phenomenal! Great food and ale Ben better service by Matt! Mac and cheese was great great. French dip was classic, beers were tasty and scotch selection was surprisingly good! A MUST STOP!!

Ok, here we go! That Prime Rib Beef Dip is AMAZING, the Beef Brisket Sandwich never disappoints, and the fries are always nicely blanched. I was a little disappointed in the small portion of aroncini (5 risotto balls the size of timbits for $12- delicious though). Not only is the food always great, but you have to love the generosity and community involvement of the Cridlands. You make such a positive impact in our community.

This place is a gem. I pride myself on not taking food pics, but the moment I had a bite I knew I would be leaving a review. I had the arancini as an appetizer and as ridiculous as it sounds the Cajun mushroom penne sans mushrooms. I also had the pristine crème brûlée. The whole experience was what this weary traveler needed. I’m now looking forward to subsequent visits so I can dine again. Special shout out to my server Jolene (if the bill is correctly identifying you).

Haven't been here in 2 years and still the best prime rib. The quality and preparation was on point. Meal was out within 15 minutes of ordering. Highly recommended.

Perfectly cooked rib eye...Med-well. Perfectly seasoned. Sides were very well executed as well.
Atmosphere is warehouse/steam punk. Not pretentious. Wasn't loud on a Tuesday evening. Special Halloween mixed drink was imaginative and yummy. "Skeleton Key"
Service was excellent 👌 not too little, but not too much either. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit.

It was our wedding anniversary. We wanted to celebrate with a special dinner together but the first restaurant we chose had to close due to sudden staff illness, just as we were about to order. We were right at the Canadian border and so chose to cross into Fort Frances where The Flint House had been recommended, but we had no reservations, the place was packed, and there were almost a dozen people ahead of us. So we waited, happily chatting to an older couple and their daughter who were from Florida. The staff were so busy, but always had time to be kind and courteous. We looked at the menu, very enticing, while we waited, and when we were finally seated, we could order immediately. We both had 'Cantilever Chicken' as our main course, simply delicious! Chicken breast stuffed with spinach and brie, with caramelized onions topped with bacon jam, all served with fresh vegetables and baby red potatoes. Heaven! Sadly we had no room for desserts, and received our bill. Totally shocked by what was written there, we approached our waiter - and hugged him. Handwritten on the blank bill was the following message: "Happy Anniversary!! Everyone deserves a free meal once in a while."
So, thank you, Florida family, for such a delightful surprise, and thank you Flint House, for the wonderful venue, amazing staff and delicious food. Truly an anniversary to remember!
