Taqueria Playa Tropical

Love it! Food quality and price are great! It's super busy so you better come earlier or have to wait in line, they don't take reservations. $18 for that great steak (served with guacamole, bean sauce, rice, and 3 fresh warm tortillas) is a deal that is hard to beat! Horchata is $3.5 and each taco is $3. I loveeee the lengua (beef tongue) and shrimp tacos, excellent combinations of flavor and texture! I also tried their beef tripe soup, not a fan though. Cocktail is very tasty. Will come back (I actually came back on Friday after the 1st visit on Thursday, lol)

It's been a couple of years since the last time we've been to Taqueria Playa Tropical and my wife was craving seafood tacos and so we went out to go for lunch during mothers day.

The food was good, just not what we anticipated it would be after not eating at the restaurant for some time. Can't pin point what it was so it might be just our taste buds.

Service is good. Parking is a bit difficult to find especially during the weekend and we had to wait for 20 minutes before we are able to get a sit. It might be because it's mothers day and its Sunday lunch time.

Pricewise, it's affordable for a good portion so can't complain. Paid about $60 for 4 people and 2 kids.

Overall, Taqueria is still a great place to eat Mexican food when you're craving... We'll probably just have to lower our expectations a bit next time.

Apologies for the poor quality of the pictures. Today, I visited this restaurant with a friend who works as an Uber driver. She mentioned that many of her customers order from there, and after experiencing it firsthand, I understand why. The portions were generous, and the food was delicious! The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating, especially considering neither of us enjoys cilantro. They made sure to cater to our preferences. I'm already looking forward to returning with my family soon.

Came for a friend’s birthday and it was awesome! The tacos are such a great deal so I had 4 haha! Ate them so fast I forgot to take a photo 😜

This place has authentic food and vibes. Really great options and they knock it out the park with all the food and big portions at a crazy good price!

Always busy, lots of conversations and everyone enjoying good food. You can tell when you walk in it's going to be good, and you won't be disappointed. We came early enough that it was just busy and we got a seat almost right away. When we finished there were quite a few waiting outside.

6 tacos, rice and beans, and tres leches cake for only $30: the prices cannot be near. Food is delicious and authentic, service is friendly and attentive. Easily the best Mexican restaurant in the Vancouver area!

The vibe of this place is something different. Food is too good and service is quick. Try tacos and burritos, too good!

If you want authentic and delicious Mexican food, this is the only place to visit. Food is delicious every single time, and the prices are affordable which is why this place is so popular and busy on weekend evenings. My favourite is their lengua taco, I can’t find this meat anywhere else! I’ve visited so many taco restaurants and this place is the best quality. Easily one of my favourite restaurants in Greater Vancouver. My only critique is that their lengua meat option is not available if you order for delivery, if you could add this it would be amazing!

No frills restaurant with good Mexican food. Friendly service. Priced just right and they do not skimp on the meat!
Their jumbo burritos are truly jumbo.
Plenty of paid parking on the street in front which is free after 6 or 8pm.
Semi pet friendly patio - your dog needs to be on the outside while you are on the inside but still next to them.

One time they messed up an order of mine on UberEats and quickly corrected it with sending me not only a replacement but a SECOND replacement for their mistake. Clearly the people who make the food are just as great people who clearly care for their customers, as they are at cooking delicious food. ❤

10/10 would go back, get the carne asada - it’s fantastic.

Came here for Taco Tuesday and it was busy, it took about 10 mins before someone took my order, but it's understandable.

I ordered 8 lengua tacos and it was amazing, meat was tender and juicy, and they don't skim on the toppings.

They do charge 5% credit card charge it seems as my bill came to $21 for 8 tacos.

Will definitely come again

Great Mexican restaurant in New West. Perhaps the best casual Mexican restaurant in Vancouver GTA, in my opinion. Try the trio for appetizers, then carne asada o fajitas for main. Good portions, tasty food, and reasonable prices.

Returned in 2024 and is still one of my favorite restaurants in New Westminster. When I visit Vancouver I have to come here. Their food is so delicious, hatd to recommend one dish as all.of them are good.

A friend brought us here for lunch and all in our party absolutely loved it! This is definitely going to be a regular spot now.
We ordered some of all the $3 tacos.. 18 in total, and all tasted great! I had the tortilla soup and again pleasantly surprised. They have an amazing guacamole and some tasty hot sauces. They offer alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages. We all opted for the bulldog margaritas. One comment made at our table was "WOW, they really nailed it on everything" ... I agree.

A perfect place to enjoy Mexican music and food. I visited for a birthday, summer beer and bite, beer crawl or whenever I was famished. I haven't been served anything I didn't love here. A must visit when in New Westminster. Recommended.

Best Mexican restaurant in Greater Vancouver. The fajitas and the roasted chicken were simply amazing. But the best part, for sure, is the tacos! You must go!

Been here twice as of this review. This place is typically super busy. We were seated within 10 minutes which was great given how busy they were.

The food is excellent, the burrito was huge and will made, and the group platters are more than adequate. The drinks are also excellent (had the jumbo blended margarita).

The service was a bit slow but given how busy it was it was to be expected and I had no complaints. (the margarita kept us busy).

The atmosphere isn't really anything special, with basic seating and some Mexican decor on the walls. But the place is clean and you can see the kitchen from the dining area, which is small but well kept.

Parking is pretty easy to find on side roads where it's usually free.

There's a reason this place is busy. It's good food at a good price. Will be back again.

I liked the food here. The lengua was so tender abs juicy. The quesadilla was packed with fish and came with sour cream and guacamole on the side. I’ll be back for sure. Not close to home, but worth the commute. Also the server was patient and full of knowledge. Definitely something I appreciate. She answered questions with ease.

Monster Burrito is so big, and all of Taco is so delicious.

When you see this restaurant you may not think much of it and not going, but what a mistake that would be.
They have fun and energetic staff to help you and look after you.
And good is really really delicious and also important... unlike the majority of restaurants they keep their prices at a very reasonable level so one can feel happy at the end of the visit too.
And I'm sure that just like us, you will go back again and again.
