I was in Montreal with a few hours to burn and this place was a great place to hide away. Records look to be fairly priced. They have a number of new arrival bins around the shop for used records. I was happy to come across a number of records I've been looking for at my local spots. Nothing is graded, and the lights in the shop are a little dim, making it a little tough to visually inspect the records in store yourself (noticed a few things at home that I didn't see in store). But everything came out sounding great, and I would not hesitate to come back for more records next time I'm in town.

My favourite record store in Montreal and pretty much anywhere. Great vibes and knowledgeable staff. The record selection is amazing, vast and at reasonable price. No reason to only buy new when a store like this exists

Every time we come to Montreal we make it a priority to visit Cheap Thrills. Best music store in the city. If you are looking for new music make sure to visit this iconic destination.

A very well organized store. The variety is good. There’s a listening station as well. They sell new and used. The staff is very nice. It’s on the second floor, so look up. They also sell books, DVD and blue ray. You can get lost and get amazed. You can really travel back in time. Which ever time you enjoyed in your past.

Love this spot! There’s a great selection of records along with some CDs, books, and even a few cassettes. I was very happy to find the A Charlie Brown Christmas soundtrack on cassette. It was even on sale so it was a great deal compared to anywhere else that you could find this cassette. Along with this the store offered great customer service by answering questions and even giving great restaurant recommendations.

Great store! I hadn’t expected such a vast selection of books and records. There was a good balance of used and new products, good for different price ranges. There were reasonable prices for the used products, which was very much appreciated. Spent hours in there, I will definitely go back :)

Great little store with a ton of used and new records. There's also books, CDs, and cassette tapes. Was surprised that I couldn't find any KISS albums or movie soundtracks, but there's still a lot there for any person's music tastes.

It's a Montreal's gem. An old small building, broken window, musty door. Creapy coated stairs areleading to the first floor. And inside a completely different world, some smart people hanging around in a quite friendly and relaxed atmosphere. I saw a bloke was staring in “The great rock and Roll Swindle” out of a pile of records. An amazing place, with huge selection of vinyl, cassettes, CDs and rare books. Must visit

I wanted to buy some local Quebec music on vinyl and couldn't have been happier about going here. The staff and owner were very helpful and I bought three records. Prices are a little high but the store is well kept, records are in good shape and everything is well ordered.

An institution among Montreal's vinyl collectors and crate diggers alike. They may have moved their entire stock from the second floor to the first, but Cheap Thrills is still full of character and ambiance--right in the middle of downtown! They have a lot of new records plus a good slection of used vinyl in all genres. It's worth it to browse through their selection of used books as well. Friendly and knowledgeable staff as well.

One of the last surviving great Montreal used book stores. They also sell old vinyls but it's their old books that interest me. The literature section is very well stocked as are more technical academic titles. I guess the store's proximity to McGill ensures that. The building the store is located in, also complements it's quaint charm. A great place to spend an afternoon going through old treasures.

Great used records and books in the last remaining 1870's building on the block. They specialize in punk and metal!
