Was able to give my budget and what I was looking for, Ross respectfully showed what was available and helped me understand everything about it. You can go to a big ticket retail store and try and get your audio equipment. But you will never get the service, expertise, and the quality you get at Absolute. If you are looking to revolutionize your sound and completely change your experience with your music or your home theatre, check them out!

Simply the best audio store I’ve dealt with in the past 40 years; as a minimum, right on par with the other folks I’ve dealt with in my audio pursuits.

I’ve been dealing with James at Absolute for closer to 15 years and he’s never led me astray . I’ve always found it refreshing that price point is of no concern to James . Whether you’re considering purchasing ultra expensive or budget gear makes no difference to James - either way he always enthusiastically gives you 100 percent .
I’ve learned much from James these last 15 years . His technical knowledge and product knowledge ( digital , analog etc ) is encyclopedic.
He recently replaced the cracked screen of my beloved ( but discontinued) Reasonesence Invicta Mirus DAC he had sold me 9 years ago .
Parts were no longer available, but James somehow shaped and created a perfect replacement screen out of a hard piece of plastic .

This place is a gem that I never knew existed in Calgary. From the get-go, Ross was very helpful, knowledgeable and most of all willing to go the extra mile - even for a new customer. James is a treasure trove of knowledge. I'm a lifetime member now......

I don't often leave reviews but felt absolutely compelled to leave one for this gem of a company! Ross and James have provided a world class customer experience for me over the last year and I couldn't be happier with my system. After spending the greater part of a day listening and evaluating items I felt well educated and well advised and yet also felt zero pressure to buy. I had thoroughly researched ahead of time and was quite sure what I wanted to go with. I appreciated Ross's approach in setting up everything I wanted to try and in a room with measurements to mimic my listening rooms dimensions. While I was not steered away from what I initially wanted I was shown comparable options in the same price range and ended up with something that paired/matched better than what I initially had thought! These folks are a pleasure to deal with.

I phoned to inquire about a new stylus for my vintage cartridge. Ross explained how cartridges deteriorate over time and suggested it might be cost effective to look at a comparable new one. A couple of days later I visited the store. Ross showed me some comparable cartridges and after I picked one he offered to install it and set it up at no extra charge. He took his time getting it set up right then took even more time to connect my turntable to one of his systems so we could give it a listening test. Wow, talk about going above and beyond. Kudos to Ross!!

I first visited James at Absolute Audio/Video about a year and a half ago to listen to a planar magnetic headset. I had always listened to headsets but had never seen or heard this kind in Calgary before. Long story short, I was amazed at the sound it produced and have been buying quality equipment from James ever since. If you are looking for high end gear and excellent customer service then this is the place for you. If you are unhappy about something to do with your purchase there is someone more unhappy than you, and that would be James. James is happy when you are happy, and that’s the way customer service works at Absolute Audio/Video. I highly recommend you visit either James or Ross to experience world class stereo equipment, first rate knowledge, and excellent service and support. You will not be disappointed.

I went in last week to check out some new speakers, I met Ross and ended up spending the next 2 and a half hours there! He was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. He set up a pair of monitor audio Bronze 200's, then proceed to blow my mind! They sounded absolutely amazing. I went back a week later and brought my fiancee to hear what they sounded like. With in just a few minutes she was sold on them too.
Needless to say I walked out with the floor models and promptly set them up when I got home, replacing my current 5.1 Kef set up. What a difference!! I can't wait to go back and order more to complete my set up once again.

James & the whole crew and Absolute Audio know their gear inside and out. I had popped in with an idea of which speakers I had wanted to purchase and their expertise helped me land on the correct pair for my room and budget.

They were also extremely helpful with helping me tighten up other components in my system and I couldn't be happier with my setup.

I reached out to Absolute Audio Video after I had called around to several other shops and was unable to acquire a certain AV Receiver that I was set on. I found I had waited a bit too late to make a purchase (as it was now discontinued) and no one had any stock left over from being completely sold out due to upcoming new models later this year. Luck would have it they had a single one left.

Incredibly friendly and helpful staff, and very accommodating (willing to put my name on it and hold it until the next day).

Unparalleled service from Ross and James at Absolute Audio and Video! Being very "old school", I was thrilled to talk with Ross and bounce my thoughts and ideas off of him and when he would go to look something up for me, James gave me tips and advice on my new purchase which Ross facilitated.
After this amazing experience I will be back again and again as I try to get a little more "new school" in my hi-fi world!

Edit: I have been back every Saturday for the last two months and James has set me up with a new cable package and the "absolute" perfect turntable to complement my system. I am unable to describe my pleasure with my system now. Thanks again, Absolute Audio Video!

We have purchased audio equipment from Ross and James for as long as Absolute Audio has been in business. Their service and knowledge is first class. Each of Ross and James have made home visits to ensure that my systems have performed to their capabilities. This is a high end audio shop, and the Staff know their equipment very well. Most of the gear is bit over my price range but you get what you pay for, and what you get is quality.
I needed a new cartridge for my Pioneer PLX 1000 turntable. I called this store and chatted to James. He said they had a few options that would fit this type of table. The Pioneer is by no means a high end item, but it fits my budget. Also I like the turntable because it was something different.
James spent the time to install the new cart, and align everything up. He was very helpful and did a brilliant job considering the turntable was not from their shop.
I took the turntable home, and hooked it up to my stereo, and it sounded brilliant. The cart was great match for the turntable, and it tracked perfect.
I would highly recommend these guys. They did a brilliant job with my Pioneer, and did not try to upsell me, or make me feel bad for owning a budget item. They will now have a customer for life. When the time comes, I will be back to upgrade. Keep up the great work.

Ross and James know their stuff. Had an upgrade and home system tweaks that were needed, the Monitor Audio speakers sound better than I figure any ceiling speaker has a right to sound. Installer Jonathan is a very good guy. Knows his stuff and is very respectful, just a decent fellow all around, a pleasure to deal with him.

By far the best audio experience in Calgary. No pressure, extremely knowledgeable and friendly staff. Quality of the goods offered is second to none.

I cannot think of a store that is more fun to visit, and have enjoyed my audio experiences at Absolute. There is always something new and interesting, and you can feel the energy as soon as you walk in the door.

My wife has even gotten into the world of tube amplification and even has her own system, also purchased at Absolute.

Bought a used Clearaudio turntable from these guys for a great deal a year ago and wife did some ballet moves in the living room and knocked the tonearm off. Brought it back to them thinking the arm and cartridge was “done”. They got it up and running for me and guess what they said….NO CHARGE!
You don’t hear much these day on services like the good old fashion ways, great products and service! A+ and Thank you!

Solid passion for sound. Also very honest. I brought in a high end Amplifier that I thought had issues. They thoroughly tested it and determined there were no problems. Then only charged me for minimal shop time. Other places may have swapped out parts and charged me for parts I did not need. Not here, just honesty. They also showed me some other great audiophile equipment. The whole time in a calm, no pressure environment. If your into high end audio, skip the chain stores, and come here.

I have made a few headphone related purchases from Absolute Audio Video over the past several years. They carry some very nice products. I appreciate how accommodating the staff are. This is probably one of the best boutique audio shops I have been to in the Calgary area. If you are a audio enthusiast, this shop is worth a look.
