Beautiful park. Will add info on roads as of April 2024 as was hard to find online. Lago conguillo is kind of the mid point between curacautin and melipeuco. We had a 2WD sedan and came from the north (curacautin).

Road was okay with one steep manageable gravel section right after the laguna capture until just before getting to the main parking area at Lago conguillo. Was a fairly steep descent on firm road but had some deep ruts that were challenging to navigate.

Had to debate going back that route vs continuing through the park and looping back around via Temuco. Ultimately decided on the latter and although it was a long drive was probably the right decision as it would have been tough to tackle with 2WD and not worth the risk. Also the drive back to Melipeuco had some wonderful scenery that was worth it.

It had been pretty dry in the lead up to our visit so I don't imagine it could be much better. Could probably have tried going back towards curacautin but would have been risky. Would recommend 4WD unless coming from the south.

So Beautiful! The roads are bad, be careful if your car is too low to the ground, too wide or bad 2x drive.

Must see national park in Chile. Although there is absolutely no signal or WiFi, it is a must see! We spend 3 days and 2 nights here and it wasn't enough to conquer the park. The hikes are stunning, the lakes are gorgeous and there's kayaking and a few other activities to do too. When I was googling which parks to prioritise during my time in Chile, this one didn't come up. But after talking to Chilean's who've done most of the parks, this is the favourite for everyone and I can see why. Will definitely be visiting again to do the hikes we couldn't do. You can stay on the outskirts and drive in, stay in cabins in the park or camp. As English staying in Santiago, we didn't have camping equipment so opted for a cabin in the park itself. Very pricey, not very clean and surprisingly noisy because the smaller cabins (2/3) people are one cabin split into two. Our neighbours in the other half were VERY loud at all hours and for this reason we would either bite the bullet and buy camping equipment or drive in each day as it ruined the experience and was annoying considering the cost.

It's truly amazing. The Araucana forest nestled among snow-capped peaks was unforgettable.

But do not expect to get near the volcanoes unless you are seriously fit, very well equipped, and part of a similarly-equipped group. With enough time to go slow, because the massive chunks of volcanic slag make seriously hard terrain.

Great park with varied hikes. A good option to beat the crowd is to get there on a Sunday and stay at one of the lodgings/campsites which allows you to visit the park on Monday when it is closed. The Pastos blancos + escoriales loop is quite beautiful (better than sierra nevada in my opinion).

This park is a great opportunity to relax in nature, choosing a walking route according to your own strengths: there is a very easy track 1 km long, there is a more difficult one for 6 km (12 km round-trip) and very difficult for 19 km with a serious climb. In the first two tracks you will find a walk through a stunning forest with araucaria and other giant trees, and in the third - a long walk through lava wastelands and slag cones with amazing views.

Hands down one of Chile's gems, the beauty of this place is beyond words. Perfect for short and long hiking, camping and even cabins. CONAF does a tremendous job on keeping their facilities and features clean and mantained. I stayed in the Camping near the lake and was great. They have a fire pit shelter for cooking and hang out, bathrooms and showers with hot water. Camping ground is spacious enough for two big tents and with your car in the premises, there even was an RV parked in front of us with a huge Teepee tent for thweir family.

Beautifull park which is a must if you have your own car.

Also One of the best situated camp grounds we have seen till now in Chile. Situated near the Conguillio lake in the national park Conguillio.

Facilities are clean and showers are hot. Standards matches a US or Australian campground!

There is wifi at the cafe, but only for staff.

We paid 18.000 for camping with our car and tent.

There are three other campings in the park which are also nice (only two were open when we where there) which also have the extra option for a private bathroom for which you pay 31.000.

This camping and park are highly recommended!

If you like trekking, you can It is your place. Beautiful place around Araucanía Region. If you come here you can not miss this place. Amazing Flora and fauna and its imposing volcano, one of the most active in the world. You can also appreciate remains of dry volcano lava that has been there for many years. Welcome ♥ 🇨🇱

We entered from the west sector and drove through until the lake Conguillo. Stayed at the camping ñirres, nice areas and facilities okay but could be better. Walked the Sendero de la Playa (nice and easy, mostly flat) through the young forest. Next day we did the Sierra Nevada trail which was more intense, very beautiful, it is interesting to notice the different forest in the two areas of the park. The second one is clearly more ancient and developed. We then drove out through the east-south sector, passing next to the hardened lava and black sand areas of the Llaima volcano. Truly mesmerising and almost surreal if you have never seen such a landscape. With more days, it would make sense to do also the hike near to the Llaima volcano. Totally recommended!

Whatever time of the year you choose, it will probably be the best day of your life. I've been to many National Parks in Chile and this is still at the top. In the summer it can get crowded since it's got one of the best camping facilities plus different sizes of log cabins. The lake is engine-free so it's very clean. Perfect for kayaking. Super Family friendly. They even offer activities for kids like group games and walks.

We stayed at the Sendas Conguillio inside of the park. While it was pricey it was beautiful and we were there virtually alone (Dec 24-26). There is so much to see in the park; it's amazing and other-wordly. You should definitely see this place.

Great for a few days. Excellent with kids. You won't be roughing it or have huge amounts of privacy but the hikes are easy and scenic. Hot showers work properly. Good facilities for washing up dishes.

I can't add much to the other reviews. except: 1 National parks are closed Mondays. 2 Stay at Hostal Ruta 181. 3. Outside the park, go to the Truful truful waterfall. Downstream, shamans from all of Chile go to collect stuff for their cures.
