Cafe Viejo

We came to Puerto Viejo to celebrate our honeymoon and Cafe Viejo did NOT disappoint. The food, the drinks, the service, the atmosphere were all amazing. Julie was the absolute best and we will definitely be back.

This place was amazing! I asked for a lobster the way I wanted it and the chef made some magic happen. Rey was the best server, so nice and great to talk to. Will absolutely come back here whenever I come back to Puerto Viejo ❤‍🔥

First off the Food was delicious, everyone at our table finished their dish. I do not usually eat pasta but the food was very authentic and the service was exceptional. Our server Manuel went above and beyond for our group of 7. We will definitely be coming back to eat here.

Excellent restaurant! Food was solo delicious, a true Italian experience!! A must go kind of restaurant in Puerto Viejo. Julie was our server, she did a fantastic job by being so kind and recommending the best dishes.

Cafe Viejo is an amazing find! A great Italian restaurant in the midst of the rural town of Puerto Viejo de Talamanca. They were referred to us from the concierge at Banana Azul resort. We took a quick taxi ride over... It's on a corner of a busy intersection... nothing to really look at. But inside is a beautiful dark rustic theme. The wait staff were extremely nice and on point. They started by bringing us over a complimentary order of bruschetta made with their homemade bread (see pic). We ordered a Caprese salad as an appetizer (pictured). The salad was big and very fresh. My wife ordered the lobster with pasta and I ordered the Lobster ravioli with shrimp toppings... both were outstanding (see picture). Every bite was savory and delicious. To complement the meal I also had glass of cab from Chili that was robust (Chilean cab has different notes than California Cab). We enjoyed our meal and it was big portions, so we brought the lefts overs back for lunch today. We were extremely happy by the food, staff, atmosphere and Cafe Viejo as a whole. I highly recommend them and I would put them up against any Italian joint in Los Angeles. We will come back... enjoy!

Wonderful dining experience. Manuel, our server was very courteous, kept our table clean between courses, and answered all of our questions with no rush. Along with the great service, it provides a beautiful, cozy atmosphere with fantastic food. Flavor and presentation were spot on! 10/10 recommend if you are looking for a good spot to eat! Food was great. Had the spinach ravioli and stuffed pancheta mushroom and truffle pasta. Red sauce on spinach ravioli was weird and lacked something but overall the pasta was amazing cooked perfect and you could tell they make in house. Service great. Live music. Ambiance was good. Wish I had more days to come here.

LOVED our meal here. Our server, Yuli, was the best. The food was very delicious and came out very quick. Every bite of food was very tasty. I had wanted to get dessert but was way too full! Next time :) Highly recommend coming here.

BEST PIZZA— we came here twice for it. And they give you bruschetta on the house?! I’m not sure why but I will not question it. It is so good! The service is pretty quick and very friendly.

Lovely spot in the middle of the strip, fantastic service and great food. Definitely a spot to hit !

Hands down one of the best Italian restaurants I have ever been to, anywhere. The food was truly outstanding. Would have gone back the next day if our schedule had permitted. They also gave us a bruschetta appetizer and digestif on the house!

Very good quality in kitchen’s welcome bruschettas and pizza was the best since Sicily.
I’ll be back even I try to eat mostly the local food usually.

We had a group of six and were seated quickly and we had great service and delicious food from then on! The Devialo and one of the Quattro pizzas were delicious; the red sauce was outstanding and the crust on the lighter side which we all enjoyed. The server was attentive and helped me clean up (after I spilled) quickly and seemingly without effort. We are already planning our trip back! 5 stars all around!

10 out of 10 recommend! The food is incredible, the staff go over and above, and the atmosphere is perfecto! We just moved to Puerto Viejo and this will definitely be our new favorite night out!

I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of food! The ingredients used are premium and obviously sourced beyond the average supply line of most of the restaurants here. The staff was very attentive and worked very well together. Everyone knew their job and did it. I did not perceive a manager running things. Everyone just did their thing and they did it well. I would call this a fancier place in town, but the prices are still comparable to what we’ve paid for two people pretty much everywhere.

Do not miss this place, it is spectacular! The 3 brothers bring their passion and family recipes to this small town in Costa Rica that could easily be mistaken for 5 star dishes at a large city restaurant.

The nicest place I’ve been to since being here on vacation. Sat and the bar with a friend, and our meals were to die for. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Highly recommend.

Very contemporary open air bar & restaurant with chill vibe. Italian inspired menu. Great mix of light fare & traditional Italian dishes, most importantly, exceptional value when considering proximity to everything & the atmosphere and views of the marketplace/ street scene!
