Hershell and Dario were great instructors for riding the waves! We enjoyed it from the start. Great care for our kids also. They really helped giving them feel full of power! My husband and I booked our first surf lesson with Hershel. There was another couple there with us. However, Hershel brought a colleague with him so that each of us could be treated individually.
It was our first surf lesson and I couldn't have imagined a better instructor than Hershel and his colleague. After a short briefing, we went straight into the water. My husband even managed to catch his first wave straight away!
Unfortunately, I didn't do so well. But thanks to the motivation and great help from Hershel and his colleague, I was gradually able to catch waves too. They took a lot of time and patience with me and I was very grateful for that. This made me feel like O wasn’t a loser because the others were able to stand their waves faster and better. My husband and I would do it again. Thank you both for everything.

Me and my wife booked two surf lessons with Hershel on our honeymoon in Puerto Viejo. It was absolutely an awesome experience - with Herschel's guidance we caught plenty of waves and had loads of fun. Would 100% recommend!

Spent about 4 days in October with Hershel showing us everything great about the Caribbean coast. We surfed, paddle boarded the river and saw lots of sloths, snorkeled, hiked and cliff jumped, made chocolate with the indigenous people and enjoyed local cuisine. Highly recommend booking with him. He’s professional and personable. Was an experience of a lifetime, can’t wait to visit again.

Hershel is such a great surf instructor who always motivates you, shows you what you did well or not well and teaches you a lot about patience and gliding with the wave. I really enjoyed my two surfing courses there and if I didn't have to leave I would have booked another one. Go ahead, book a course with him :)

Highly recommend booking with these guys!!Above all, Hershel’s calm energy, passion, generosity and humour make him a great teacher. He also offers transportation, selects the best beach depending of the day, takes the time to make sure you nail down the technique and offers feedback throughout. His young assistant Jo was also super helpful and encouraging!! Can't stress enough how great those lessons felt. I've had two, I wish I had more. Got a lot of great tips and went all the way up to riding at least a few green waves. Transportation, lycra, great choice of boards is just a cherry on top. Fully recommend!

We had an excellent experience here! The woman working in the shop was very friendly and happy to help us. Our lessons were with Gallo and he gave great instruction, was patient, and really helped us get better throughout the lesson. We had good conversation and it is clear how much he loves surfing and teaching it to others. It was my first time surfing but he made it so much fun that I can't wait to go again!

Absolutely recommend this Surfing school!

Me, my girlfriend and our friend took 2 lessons as complete beginners.
After second day we were able to “surf” on pretty good waves.
During 2 hours long classes we learnt a lot, both instructors - Hershel and Gabriel were incredible, they were really friendly, supporting us all the time and were very patients with all of our fauls.
Thank you guys for introduction of new sport for us, we will definitelly try it again!

I just got back from my very first ever surfing lesson and it was such FUN, so much better than I thought it could be. Hershel talked me through the moves, had me practice standing on the board on dry land, then out we went into the waves.
I caught my very first wave and rode it in to shore! Then the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th.... Each wave, each mistake, each correction, it was all making sense. I love this and will be back for more.

I cannot say enough good things about Hershel and Caribbean Surf School and Shop! I recently visited Puerto Viejo de Talamanca with some girlfriends and Hershel took us on many adventures. These included surfing, a beautiful hike to a waterfall, stand up paddleboarding/kayaking, and a tour to a medicinal chocolate farm in BriBri. He pointed out tons of wildlife!! It was one stop shopping with Hershel and he was such a pleasure the whole way. He is a local and knows tons about Costa Rica for those visiting. He even recommended great local stops and restaurants. He is professional, kind and tons of fun. It was one stop shopping for us and we are so grateful!

Hershel was an amazing instructor! He was positive and motivating and knew exactly where to take my family of beginners! I was nervous to try surfing but I'm glad I did. He speaks English also so that was super helpful.

Hershel is just amazing!!! I took a surf lesson together with my parents and we all were standing at the board very fast. He is the best surf teacher you can imagine.
