Hotel KORTUS

A cozy Hotel located within a walking (hiking) distance from the region's main attraction.
The rooms are clean, spacious and perfect for families with kids.
Breakfast was very good and gave enough power for the long hikes.
Personnel was very friendly.

The only thing we found a bit disappointing is that the restaurant that is part of the Hotel doesn't prioritize Hotel guests, so even though we went to reserve a table for the evening a few hours beforehand, they didn't give us a table for that day.
So if you're there on a weekend, make sure to reserve a table a few days before. Because the food at the restaurant is really worth a try and is fresh and delicious.

After we ordered, a huge guest came through for about 5 minutes and the whole town lost power. Somehow, that didn't impact our meal. The staff turned on flashlights and lit candles and kept cooking. The food was very tasty and I would definitely recommend the restaurant.

The rooms are also very spacious, clean and comfortable. I'm really glad to stay here.

Fantastic food and very friendly staff. Even though we are English and apologetically unable to speak Czech or much German, despite the staff not speaking much English, language was not an issue. We still communicated perfectly and staff were not phased by our inability to speak the local language (even though we felt bad)

I can't speak highly enough of this hotel, I absolutely loved it. The owners are proud of the work and renovations they have done to the building as it was extremely dilapidated (can see pics when checking in or on their website) and I don't blame them as its beautiful. It's a small hotel but the service is exceptional and even though English is not their first or second language, we had no issues communicating checking in or out.
We stayed in room 302 as it is one of two rooms with a balcony and it was perfect. The bathroom was a good size and shape with a rain shower and complimentary shower gel, body lotion and soap (most hotels don't provide these anymore!). The bedroom was large with a sofa, storage for suitcases / clothes, TV, desk, fridge (which has got drinks in it but you have to pay for these separately), really comfortable bed and air-conditioning - the bonus was Netflix (although we didn't use it). The balcony was large with two seats, table and lounger for sunbathing.
The breakfast room is separate to the restaurant and is a self-serve continental breakfast which is perfect to fill you up before going on one of the beautiful hikes surrounding the hotel (one literally starts at the hotel).
There is also a restaurant which was such good value for money and some of the best food and wine I have tried. People who have been on hikes also stop at this restaurant for drinks and food afterwards. From what I can tell, one of the servers speaks really good English however the rest did struggle so we did a lot of pointing, smiling and got by absolutely fine.
The area itself is beautiful and at night, the few street lights they have are turned off (we got a pic of the milky way!). Not linked to the hotel but there are also regular buses (bus stops directly in front of hotel) if you want to go a bit further out for a hike without taking your car. The hotel also has space for you to store your bikes, if you wish to bring them (and some buses have bike racks so you can again go further out).

Perched in the majestic landscapes of North Czechia, just a stone's throw from the enchanting Bohemian Switzerland National Park, you'll find the welcoming edifice of Hotel Kortus. And then, out of nowhere, comes the cheeseburger with fries. A surprise? Perhaps. But let me tell you, after a day of hiking through the mountains, the simple delight of this perfectly assembled burger is a salve to your hard-earned hunger. A juicy patty, cheese that melts to perfection, and fries that snap with a satisfying crunch. Every bite seems to whisper, 'you've traversed the trails, now savor the reward.'

In essence, Hotel Kortus is an unassuming hero of the culinary world. It eschews complex gastronomy for food that is humble yet masterful, straightforward yet satisfying. Nestled in the glory of North Czechia, it's a place where the journey of the hiker meets the journey of the food lover. This, my friends, is the beauty of simplicity done right.

The restaurant is highly recommended. Positive opinions and high rates on Google maps are fully justified. Kind and helpful service. Very tasty, freshly prepared food. Nice presentation of the dishes. Fried cheese super juicy and delicious. 🤤

High class service from the friendly staff. Many people go there, even in the off season (2021). Make sure to bring some time to wait for a seat, if you are there for dinner. If it is warm, outside are many more seats. Food and drinks are served swiftly. Warm and cosy fireplace inside!

Wandern kann man auch super in der Umgebung. Das ist soooo schön hier.

Das Hotel liegt direkt am Wald und ca. 15 Minuten Fußweg von den größten highlights der Region.

Die Zimmer sind frisch renoviert und äußerst gepflegt. Wir waren auch von dem Design begeistert. Von der Terrasse konnten wir den traumhaften Sonnenuntergang bewundern.

Das Restaurant serviert leckere regionale Speisen. Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich und sind sogar auf meine extra Wünsche eingegangen.

Wir waren absolut begeistert von diesem Hotel und auch vom dazugehörigen Restaurant. Das Personal ist äußerst freundlich und zuvorkommend. Das Zimmer, welches wir bewohnt haben, war sehr gemütlich und ruhig, obwohl es direkt über dem Restaurant und der Außenterrasse lag und zur Straße hinaus gerichtet war.
Das Frühstück war überschaubar, aber dennoch sehr gut und vor allem nachhaltig gestaltet.
Das Hotel bietet eine gute Ausgangslage für Wanderungen oder Radtouren in der Böhmischen Schweiz.
Wir können das Hotel KORTUS nur empfehlen und kommen auf jeden Fall nochmal wieder!
