Punjab is known for the rivers and the inhabitants of Punjab always find their love with water and fertile soil. Our ancestors long back probably some 3000 years ago started their journey from present day Ukrain and scattered through out the world. They chased water and fertile lands for greener pasture. they never hesitated to take up extreme challenges. When I went to Prague, the very first thing that attracted me was the Vltava river. It bisects the city in half. The bridges across the river are some of the most interesting feature of the river and the city. Bridges provide the most aww inspiring views like the castle. When I was searching for tourist places in the city then the most prominent picturesque photographs of the city are from the river. I was unable to control my urge to see and even before my conference started I went to the river. The cruises in the river are great and they provide the refreshing experience. The river provides the life to the city and I think this attracts more tourists to Prague than any other relics in the city. The Charles bridge alone attracts more than million people in a year. River is visitable in any time of the day. You will feel a different vine every time yo go there. I went in the late evening. There are restourents on the bank and they play live music. If someone is planning a beautiful holiday with family or friends or even a lone trip, then I guess nothing can beat the city Prague and Vltava river.

The Vltava is a magic, crystal clear, beautiful, unreal river. The water is so clean and clear that many wonderful, wonderful birds swim in it. I think that you completely agree with me when you see this beautiful river and when you deeply feel this river after you visit the beautiful city of Prague.

It is the longest river within the Czech Republic, running southeast along the Bohemian Forest and then north across Bohemia, through Český Krumlov, České Budějovice and Prague, and finally merging with the Elbe at Mělník. It is commonly referred to as the "Czech national river".

Our "national" river (it inspired B. Smetana to create the second of six symphonic poems "Má vlast" - My Country) is not only interesting around Prague but it flows through a lot of interesting places with a beautiful surrounding landscape (Vyšší Brod, Rožmberk, Český Krumlov, Hluboká nad Vltavou, České Budějovice, Vyšehrad, Charles Bridge, Mělník). If someone wanted some basic information:

The longest Czech river rises in the Šumava and flows into the Elbe in Mělník. The total length of the Vltava is 430.2 km. It´s name first appeared in "Letopisy of the Fulde" in 872 as Fuldah, later as Wultha. In the Kosmas Chronicle, the czech-like form of Wiltau is testified. The German version taken from the Czech Moldau (Moldaua) is documented in the 13th century. At the top of the Vltava River our largest dam reservoir Lipno is built (between 1951 and 1966) with a partially sprung and partly concrete 42-meter high dam, and water surface of 4870 hectares. Vltava enters Prague from the south through the territory of Zbraslav and leaves it in the north through the territory of Suchdol. The length of the flow in Prague is 30.9 km.

Náš "národní" tok (inspiroval mimojiné B. Smetanu k vytvoření druhé věty díla "Má vlast") není zajímavý jen kolem Prahy, ale protéká spoustou zajímavých míst s nádhernou okolní krajinou (Vyšší Brod, hrad Rožmberk, Český Krumlov, Hluboká nad Vltavou, České Budějovice, Vyšehrad, Karlův most, Mělník). Pokud by někdo chtěl pár základních informací:

Naše nejdelší řeka pramení na Šumavě a vlévá se u Mělníka do Labe. Celková délka Vltavy je 430,2 km. Její jméno se poprvé objevuje v Letopisech fuldských roku 872 jako Fuldaha, později Wultha. V Kosmově kronice je dosvědčena počeštěná podoba Wiltaua. Od 13. století je doložen německý název přejatý z češtiny Moldau (Moldaua). Na horním toku Vltavy leží naše největší přehradní nádrž Lipno, postavená v letech 1951 až 1966 s částečně sypanou a částečně betonovou 42 metrů vysokou hrází, a vodní plochou 4870 hektarů. Do Prahy Vltava vtéká z jihu přes území Zbraslavi a opouští jí na severu přes území Suchdola. Délka toku na území Prahy je 30,9 km.

We enjoyed walking along the river. In the day and evening. On both sides, view the bridges, have a coffee here and there, feed the ducks, swans or just take some pics. Just take your time and look

This post not about Vltava. But about Prague , situated on the banks of river Valtva.
This river bisects Prague in two parts.
This is one of the largest city of Europe and known as city of spires. There are score of old building and a must watch actually.
In the old city , the watch tower gives an hourly animated show. Nearby , you will find some shops selling great crystal wares. Then , there are some high end stores as well
Prague also has a glass house called dancing building due to its design.
It is a great place for beer lovers and has a very active night life.

In my opinion Prague is the most beautiful city in Europe.
The Czech people are the friendliest you will find anywhere in Europe.
Parts of the river Vlatava freeze over in winter months and playing ice hockey on these parts of the river is popular with Prague youth.

A river dividing Prague into two halves, offering a romantic, great view and experience of local atmosphere.
There are also areas where you can rent a pedal boat.
Multiple islands are in between two sides of Prague.

First of all Prague is full of beauties and fun for night people you can climb higher to see a beautiful view of Vltava from a high spot or just walk along passing cafes on boats...

What a fantastic river. Everything was so beautiful and tidy and awesome. The riversides are bordered with wonderful old buildings never found in such a density elsewhere. The Charles Bridge is a delight for the eyes. Walking along the river makes you feel like living in a different world full of fairy tales or even like travelling back in time. This place is really magic!!!

I got into a catamaran. Totally a nice ride that can be done in Prague, being able to see the Prague Castle, the Charles Bridge, and many other outstanding places. If you continue south along the river, you will reach the so-called new zone. The appearance is the same as in the old area, with the same architectural style and colorful facades, although the streets are wider and there are fewer historic buildings. One of the most striking places is the Dancing House, a strange building with a deconstructive style that attracts a lot of attention. It is very nice to see how this dancing house is in the middle of so many classic and regal constructions, with a hyperfuturistic aspect. However, what you will enjoy most of this trip will be the river itself, crossed by numerous bridges and with several garden islands where to disconnect from the bustle of the city. All of this holding a nice champagne cup on your hands ;)
