Hainich National Park

Hainich National Park (German: Nationalpark Hainich), founded on December 31, 1997, is the 13th national park in Germany and the only one in Thuringia. One of the main objectives of the park is the protection of an ancient native beech forest. In 2011, the park was added to the Ancient and Primeval Beech Forests of the Carpathians and Other Regions of Europe World Heritage Site because of its testimony to the ecological history of the beech tree and the dynamics of forests in Europe since the Last Glacial Period.
The 75 km2 (29 sq mi) park lies in the western part of the German state of Thuringia, east of the Werra River, and is part of the greater Eichsfeld-Hainich-Werratal Nature Park. It occupies much of the triangular area between the cities of Eisenach, Mühlhausen, and Bad Langensalza. The national park the southern part of the roughly 160 km2 (62 sq mi) Hainich, the largest contiguous deciduous forest in Germany.

Amazing ancient forrest. One of the few original beechwoods of Europa. With a great variety of trees and beautiful birds this place is prefect for a geetaway into nature

This lovely park has numerous amenities and breathtaking natural spots, offering us one of the finest trekking adventures we've ever enjoyed. We're deeply thankful to Sandy, who came to our rescue when we were stranded, even going the extra mile by giving us a ride home in her cool car. We truly appreciate her kindness.

Very nice walk on the treetop with amazing views and fun and advantrous games on the way. We went we 3 young kids and they loved it. Also good playground, good food and coffee and the price is reasonable.

Beautiful park deep in the woods. Very well done information area, with qualified personnel, eager to share information with us. Many bird species to be seen, even in the wintertime, which is usually not the best for wildlife tourism. The treetop bridge is the highlight, though maybe a bit overpriced (11 €, which also include a visit to the information center).

Plus the park is very easy to find and a UNESCO Heritage site. Great way to spend a Sunday!

The sky walk is a great way to get out into nature. All the major exhibits are available in several languages and do a good job of explaining the flora and fauna of the park.
There are food and beverages available as well as lodging.

Great experience, especially at Herbst when colors are beautiful.
Man needs four good Hours for good walk trout the Threes. Everything is nicely illustrated. The place is good especially for Family with Children. Children can enjoy in the View and they can a lot of things to discover. Beside "Baumkronen Pfad" is Natur museum for Children. That is a special place with a lot of cool things.
The place is an absolute must to visit!
