A large and impressive tower gate on the eastern edge of the old town.
The tower gate is worthy of a visit as it is much more visually striking than the western gate and gives an idea of what the old fortified city must have once looked like.

Spectacular East Gate of the city of Regensburg. This is a picture taken inside the city. Windows are seen on this side since it is protected. The outside only has slits for weapons.

Das ab 1284 entstandene Ostentor am Ostrand der heutigen Altstadt von Regensburg war einer von sechs Tortürmen der ehemaligen Stadtbefestigung und wurde zum Schutz der damaligen sogenannten „Ostenvorstadt“ errichtet. Das Tor entstand über der östlich nach Wien führenden Ausfallstraße und war damit das Stadttor, durch das der aus Wien kommende jeweilige Kaiser in die Stadt einzog.
