Gasthaus Bräuwastl

Delicious Bavarian fare, friendly staff, festive layout. Can choose to eat in the dining room, or outside on the porch-like area. We had meatloaf w/mushroom gravy and Spaetzle (egg noodles, Deutschland style), and Goulash with Spaetzle & a garden salad. Washed down with mugs of lager & a Dünkel. All of it delish!

This is a short walk from the Edelweiss resort. Easily one of our favorite places in town. Has all of the Bavarian fare staples you might be looking for The schnitzel is great. The restaurant is reasonably priced. Good for a small group or a little weeknight date.

You have to order the pork knuckle the day before.

I do not usually rate a full 5 stars, but this place is excellent.

The menu is in both German and English. They have a decent selection of beers (mostly Spaten on tap, but also Franziskaner and other in bottles). There are around 6-7 different dishes per menu section (i.e. appetizers, soups, salads, main course, sides, and deserts).

My dinner was infused with crack and was excellent! The potato salad with my salad was awesome. The red apple cabbage was phenomenal. They were out of knödel, but replaced with great potatoes.

Desert was excellent. Prices are good with the average main course costing €11.50.

The location has outside seating with large bench seats. Inside is more traditional seating with small tables and both chair and bench seating.

They have free wifi. Since it is not right in town, it's not excessively busy.

There is no bar, so the clientele is mostly families and small groups. Seating inside is quiet. Outside seating is on the main road through town, so it can be a bit noisier.

They accept both Euro and credit cards.

Overall, aside from some homely items and decorations, this is one spot you will want to visit. Easy walking distance from the Artillery kaserne and the Edelweiss Hotel.

We just arrived in Garmisch and it was close to supper time. Our group has a couple of finicky eaters and we were looking for an authentic German restaurant. We are so lucky that Gasthaus Brauwastl was within walking distance of Edelweiss. The Schnitzel was cooked perfectly and very delicious. My son had the roast pork and it was very good. There was only one waitress but she did wonderful. There is a lot of seating both inside and outside. We will definitely return.

The Gasthaus Brauwastl was our favorite restaurant ten years ago and still is after our most recent visit to Garmisch. The food is excellent, the apple strudel is the best in town, and the service is so friendly and prompt. We just wish we could visit more often and come here to dine.

We stopped here to eat 2 years ago. Needless to say, we had stop here again when we came back to town. The food is amazing. The service is fast and the waitress is very friendly and great at her job! I can't wait till we are back in town again.

At Garmisch for a conference, and found this place within walking distance from Edelweiss Lodge. If you are looking for a friendly, authentic German dining experience, I highly recommend visiting Gasthaus Bratwastl.

This was our first dining experience in Germany and we were a little hesitant as neither of us speaks much German. Thankfully our hostess was fluent in English and she was great to work with. The food was amazing, the Bier was cold, and it was a great evening to sit outdoors. I highly recommend Gasthaus for dinner, and will probably swing by for another piece of Streudel before we leave.

We had an amazing dinner here our first night in Garmisch! Our seebreeze was so sweet and welcoming. The food was absolutely amazing. We sat outside. There were 10 in our group. We all loved our meals!
