Chanced upon this very iconic and beautiful Bavarian restaurant and had lunch without any reservation when we were in Munich. The ambience was fantastic, cosy and authentic. Food was great and well presented, except that the price is on the high side.

Wonderful service and delicious food in an extremely large restaurant, meaning this place is very busy. Located downstairs in the Marienplatz of Old Town, the restaurant has an old time German flare resulting in a warm and inviting atmosphere despite its size. My wife really loves the beer selection and me, the wide selection of tasty dishes, all at reasonable prices for Munich. Staff were very busy but still made our visit pleasant. Enjoyed our meal but remember this is a very, very large restaurant and is very noisy, so if you are looking for a quite dinner with family and friends, this is not the place.

Great food, great servers (some of the few friendly ones we found in this city). Proof that you can be efficient AND friendly at the same time. Dined here with a group of five and we all loved our food. The style and decoration of the restaurant is Bavarian. They offer traditional dishes with good quality ingredients.

Our waiter, apologies didn’t get his name but he was Greek, was AMAZING. Great chat, recommendations and couldn’t do enough for us.

The food was worth the wait. It was so lovely, from starters to dessert. All 5/5. I'm not sure if they are a Michelin Star restaurant,if not they definitely deserve one. AndI do know they serve food from heaven 😋. I definitely recommend it..this is located downstairs on the busy streets of Marianplatz, Munich.

Visited on recommendation of my wife's friend who was airline staff, so had visited Munich various times. Not disappointed at all, in fact I was mighty impressed. Both of us had a dish from the favourites selection. Will be back on any future visit to Munich.

An unmissable place in the city. Located in the internal courtyard of the Munich residence, in front of the famous Marienplatz, it is characterized by refined and themed furnishings, frescoed rooms with wood and stone elements that create a special atmosphere. The food, despite this, offers good value for money and a good variety. Highly recommended

I came to Munich 2 times, and both times went to this restaurant!
The food is good, location is very easily accessible and prices are very adequate and affordable considering the quality you get.
This time I tried fish dishes and they were super good!

I went once during rush hour, it was almost full, but they managed to serve us fast!

Of course a place can always be better, and there probably are places that could be considered to be better, but considering quality, price, and service, I decided to put 5!

What a great place. This is a must visit if you are in Munich! The place is massive and despite the size, the service is spectacular.
Must try: pork knuckle and the lava cake

Excellent food. Cosy and warm atmosphere. Friendly and helpful staff. Strongly recommended for Bavarian local cuisine and a great dinner. P.S. "Ratskeller Grillwürstl-Schmankerl" is too big for 1 person. It can be shared by 2. "Kartoffelsuppe" is THE BEST! Especially perfect for cold weather, it warms up your body :)

This is a must try restaurant in München. I always passed by the entrance while in Marienplatz and always thought that due to its location is a tourist trap.. I was so wrong!! Both the service and the food were amazing, and the place itself it was huge and very beautiful decorated!

Great service, good food and atmosphere. Service here was the best I received in Munich. Location is also good as it’s right next to the train station Marianeplatz. Would recommend.

Traditional Beer and Food in authentic atmosphere! All the Munic atmosphere in one place. Hyper central and generally you find a space as well on the crowded days.

Great authentic bavarian food. We ordered the Sausage sampler. Staff are very friendly and the venue has a very cozy feel.

What an amazing and unique restaurant! The architecture inside is incredible, the service by the staff is superb and the food is amazing! My wife and I had lunch here and it was exactly what we had hoped for while visiting. Highly recommend this restaurant!

We enjoyed our dinner on a Wednesday evening with a very hospitable server who spoke English. Along with what’s pictured, we tried their schäfflersuppe and German potato pancakes and would recommend each dish we had. The atmosphere in the Neues Rathaus was really cool for us as tourists from the US, along with the rest of the square.
