Beautiful castle with nice scenery and walk area. It was raining when we visited the place. The Autumn view was really amazing. Please do have a look at the pics and for more do follow me on insta @yashwini_ramappa

Pros: 1) Beautiful scenery and walk area
2) Food outlets and restaurants are available
3) Parking area which is 20 meter away
4) Toilets are very neat and clean

Very nice castle! You can walk outside - it's an area with small streets. Restaurants and cafes are on the castle's territory. Also you can find funicular (it's not for free).

You can buy tickets to visit inside of the castle. With baby carriage you can not do it. But you can leave it outside - no problem.

On the territory you can find a playground for kids.

Amazing and beautiful castle! Admission fees vary between 3€ for Children and 6€ for Adults. Everything is really good kept, but still maintaining its original medieval flavour. If you check on the page, you may get some information about special events and enjoy a travel to the past.
The tour and the climb to the top of the Tower is really worth it, specially for the magnificent views you get from the surrounding forest and little towns.

Lovely Fortress which was changed to function as a Castle in later years. Most parts are rebuild since the Swedish army destroyed the fortress almost entirely. Many parts are under renovation now, but the building is still worth seeing, it's very impressive. Prices are a bit reduced until construction is finished.

Nice and cheap place to visit. It's in a good shape.
But I would recommend the people to choose a day with a good weather to ride in the cable car.
Besides of that, they are nowadays repairing a great part of the wall from outside and there are many scarffoldings around. Would be great if you can wait until they end up all the repairings so you can enjoy the whole experience. But if you live close and want to have a busy morning I recommend you to do the visit.
I Hope this feedback helps you all.

The castle closes at 17 on Sundays...so I haven't been inside...but it is very nice around it...the shop is very nice with lot of postcards, magnets, wooden swords and shields toys for kids, and other toys...and real kitchen knives and other stuff produced in Solingen area which is famous cause of it...I noticed two restaurants near by as well...I am coming back that's for sure

Very nice, kids friendly castle. Be aware that it is all about taking many steps up and down to make the round visit inside. Huge part of the castle is still under renovation (until 2025). Last but not least - a very nice and helpful lady that is taking care of toilets and not only - whatever your question or worry is, she will do her best to help or find the best solution for you.

Almost all buildings are covered due to construction right now, however the museum is open. It is a really interesting historical site, offering some context over the creation of NRW as a state

Beautiful castle, with great view and nice restaurants. Especially nice during the medieval fantasy convention! There is a lift going from the dale to the castle, as parking near the castle on the top is limited.

Greta place to visit and enjoy a day out even with children. The Castle it is well preserved and plenty or history. It offers great panoramic views, great walk around the walls and close by there are plenty of places to dine or have a cold drink.

Loved to come here as a kid. It has lost nothing of its historical charm. Can get busy on sunny days, but the fortress with its museum, arts and crafts stores and restaurants (amazing waffles) is always worth a visit.

Reconstructed castle, gives a very ggod impression of its former functions and glory. Take the round tour through the interior to learn more and see typical rooms. Kids will LOVE this place!!
Shop and food options are available close by.
Can be very crowded... Bring coins for parking pay machine.

I came here a couple months ago. After walking through the forest, I reached there by cable railway (Seilbahn). It was really good experience. The people there were very friendly. Because I don't understand german so I don't know about the history here but it was still exciting.

At the time of my visit there is limited access to the castle due to renovations. Well worth the visit though, and a very interesting story about the history of the castle.

Hill top castle with lovely views. The interior is a mix of museum and recreations of life in the castle in different historical periods. The look out in the tall tower is currently closed due to some building works. The cafés and restaurants in the burg are very good some with terraces with a view. The chair lift upto the castle is a brilliant way to arrive.
