Burg Gutenfels

Hands down one of the most memorable experiences of my whole life. We were needing somewhere to stay for a night while castle hopping with our kids. It was my husbands idea to look into a castle and we absolutely lucked out with booking when we did.
We ended up having this entire castle to ourselves. We got to explore, our kids got to run and play and we got to have a moment of ‘ what if this was our life?!’
It has such a quiet and tranquil feeling to it. And the surrounding views are amazing.

The castle is beautiful. Every single person we met was incredibly kind and helpful.

I hope we’re lucky enough to stay here again.
If I could give it a million stars I would.

This castle is amazing and words honestly won't describe what I felt when I walked through those gates. I stayed with my parents a few weeks ago in one of the large rooms with 2 king beds and kitchen. It was amazing. The director was amazing and was waiting for us when we came down for breakfast. He answered all our questions and had his staff make us everything we wanted. This is an experience you won't get just visiting another castle. You need to plan at least a few hours to Rome the grounds and see all the different court yards. There is doors in the walls going into cathedral and towers. The night we staid everyone else was in there rooms by 8pm so we grabbed some bottles of wine and explored until midnight. There were lights the lit up the castles walkways and court yards but you had to find them. It was just amazing, can't wait to go back.

It's a freaking real castle! Not some fancy new building built on the old ruins of a castle. It was a private residence prior to being turned into a hotel, then from a hotel into a 5 room B&B. The rooms have modern conveniences such as a small kitchen and the bathrooms are super clean and VERY well appointed. We enjoyed waking up in the morning to a cool breeze blowing in the windows high above the valley providing amazing views of the Rhine and connecting valley. The patio and garden spaces allowed for privacy if you were looking for that, or a nice space to sit with friends or other guests. But with only 5 rooms in the entire castle there was never a concern there'd be crowds. And for folks looking for a fairy tale worthy place to get married or restate vows, this is it. I could keep on writing about how much we and our friends enjoyed our stay, but getting too wordy as it is. Stay there if you have the opportunity.

Amazing Castle to stay and spent a night or two (or more).
We only stayed for one night. The room was spacious, and had everything we needed (we stayed in room "Stube Liebenstein" which shows a TV on the hotel's webpage, though there was none, we didn't mind). Breakfast is included and offers scrambled eggs, croissant, rolls and a selection of different spreads, ham, cheese etc.
Parking is close to the castle, one still has to walk up the hill a little bit (but you can unload in front of the main gate before parking your car). The town is not far and walkable (it took us ~15 minutes though it is all uphill returning to the castle which can take a lot longer depending on personal fitness level).
The castle even offers a sauna (we didn't use) and huge garden one can access. We believe all 5 apartments were taken during our stay, but we barely saw other guests and had the garden all to ourselves. There is a self-servcice bar, which makes it easy to get a cold beverage.
If you always wanted to stay in a real castle, this one is for you. If you stay in this area, this is an excellent hotel even if staying in a castle is not your dream. We enjoyed our stay to the fullest.

Wonderful location overlooking the Rhine. The accommodation is comfortable and spacious. The staff are friendly , attentive and speak English. The location is ideally between Koblenz and Wiesbaden. Highly recommended.

Actually spent the night here in April 1997. Beautiful views ... my daughters loved it.

Ein rundum perfekter Aufenthalt. Genau wie man sich eine Auszeit auf einer Burg vorstellt: alles sehr authentisch gehalten und sehr gepflegt. Wir waren vor allem begeistert, dass man die Burg auf eigene Faust erkunden konnte und man sich einfach frei bewegen und jeden Raum besichtigen durfte und man hat sich einfach sehr Zuhause gefühlt. Das Personal ist unglaublich freundlich und das Frühstück war super lecker - von allem war genug da. Der Burggarten ist auch ein Highlight gewesen!

Personal. Selbst der Hotelmanager sucht den Kontakt zu den Gästen. Es war ein toller Aufenthalt und wir kommen gern wieder.

５年前にハイデルベルクから、ケルンに向かう特急列車から見えました。
自分のスマホで撮影して、とても気に入った写真だったので、この建物は何処なんだろうと色々調べてたらグーテンフェルス城だと判明しました。
何も加工してないのにダークな写りです。
廃城になってるそうですが、宿泊出来るのですねー

Ein Rundum gelungener Ausflug findet seinen Höhepunkt. Wir waren als Wandergruppe unterwegs und der Aufenthalt in der Burg war in jeder Hinsicht ein Highlight unserer Tour. Wir haben uns im familiär und professionell geführten Burghotel mehr als wohl gefühlt und überlegen wann wir wiederkommen.
Neben der außergewöhnlichen Burg-Atmosphäre ist auch das überaus freundliche Personal dieses absoluten (noch) Geheimtipps hervorzuheben.

Eine Burg, wie man sich das vorstellt...sehr freundliches Personal, leckeres Frühstück im Rittersaal. Bei der Ankunft gab es eine Burgbegehung.Jeden Raum der Burg konnte man erkunden. Die Zimmer waren sehr schön und sauber, zum Teil mit urigen Möbeln eingerichtet,eben so wie es auf einer Burg sein muss. Sauna auch vorhanden, die man zeitlich blocken konnte.Das Highlight sind die 5 verschiedenen Aussenterrassen und die geschmackvoll eingerichtete Bibliothek mit Kamin.

Traumhaft schöne Burg! Es gibt viele tolle Plätze zu entdecken,mir hat besonders gut die hölzerne Hollywoodschaukel gefallen. Das Frühstück war besonders lecker und das Team sehr zuvorkommend.

Wer mal etwas Ausgefallenes sucht, ist hier auf jeden Fall gut aufgehoben. Wir hatten eine sehr schöne Zeit dort.

Die Übernachtung und das Frühstück im Rittersaal waren ein einmaliges Erlebnis!
Der Empfang war super freundlich und wir wurden erstmal durch die Burg geführt und haben die verschiedenen Räumlichkeiten und Gärten gezeigt und erklärt bekommen.
Das beste Hotel in dem wir seit langem übernachtet haben!
