Café Pause

What a great surprise this local coffee place turned out to be! The menu/carte is quite large, pretty unexpected for a café. The menu has everything to satisfy the small until a large hunger. Cool thing: you can still order breakfast in the afternoon! They also serve a very good local beer in a fancy large glass. The sandwiches and the cakes we had were delicious. Service was very friendly and efficient. The view on the large Marktplatz in this beautiful town is amazing, if you sit outside on the large patio. Thanks, we had a wonderful time.

We have had a lovely experience here. Had wonderful Black Forest Cake and drink. We came back for breakfast, which was also very good.

I visited Freudenstadt for the very first time in the hight of the summer months and I stumbled across Café Pause located directly on the Marketplace. I was greeted by delightful staff who were more than accommodating and spoke wonderful English - as my German is a little rusty to say the least ;) The Food was generously plated and the service was second to none. I enjoyed a delicious Flat White Coffee to round out my experience basking in the afternoon sun out on the terrace. I highly recommend a visit inside the cafe to look and the wonderful cakes on offer which are baked daily and freshly onsite - the portion sizes will NOT disappoint you!!!

Take a break and enjoy some excellent hand made cake and have some coffee, tea or something cold to drink. Friendly and attentive waiters will help you choose what cake to get. You can also,buy some sweets to take with you. Highly recommended!

This is my favorite place anywhere. Here I find my center. The serving girls are angelic, good readers of the mood and care for their customers. The cakes, coffees and literally everything in their menu is well prepared and taste amazing. The prices are also fair. I sit here on the weekends for hours none stop reading a book. They leave you in peace and ask you every now and then if you need something. I love this Cafe and hooked for years to come. My Tipp is: Try the truffle cake!!

Absolutely love visiting this cafe right in the ❤ of Freudenstadt. The desserts are so nicely prepared and very tasty. During the fall season, look for zweibelkuchen, special onion and bacon pie - sehr lecker.

This cafe is also filled with lots of sweet treats to grab for gifts for loved ones.

We were pleased to find some gluten-free cake options.

The homemade lemonade is delicious. I enjoyed the potato soup and my husband loved the dumplings. We dined outside on a beautiful day and they even have blankets provided if you get a chill. Our waitress was super helpful and spoke great English since my German is “nich so gut!”

Amazing cafe and the best Black forest cake ever! Tried in many places but the one here was perfect. Had a nice English speaking girl servicing and the place was busy. Got some gifts including the blackforest chocolate as gifts.

The best schoko-zauber cake I’ve ever had. I also LOVE the delicious schwarzwald pinsa, and the Schwaben-burger is a must for people who enjoy different burger experiences. I was surprised to hear everything is home made! I always make sure to include Cafe Pause in my stops if I drive by the Black Forest.

Such a great and cute place to go when you're in Freudenstadt! Just a must do! The service is incredibly friendly and they try to make your stay as good as possible. The cakes and pastries are amazing and all self-made by the owner. Everything they do is made with love! They also offer vide variety off good German dishes, prepared only with fresh ingredients. I can only recommend you to go there!
