Sophia's Restaurant & Bar

Sophia's restaurant, located inside Charles Hotel, offers modern Italian cuisine with fresh ingredients. The ambience here is unparalleled with plenty of greenery, natural lighting and high ceiling. Infact, the restaurant overlooks the Old Botanical Garden in Munich.

We called for the Galleto Ripieno (chicken breast), Polpo Alla Griglia (Grilled Octopus), Fiori Di Zucca Ripieni (filled zucchini flowers) and a Tagliolini. The food was delicious (except for the small portions!).

The service was extremely friendly and quick. They also offer a fantastic breakfast menu.

Overall, an enjoyable experience for lunch on Sunday.

Sophia’s Restaurant & Bar has been my little pit stop for lunch the 2 times I have been in Munich. Munich can be pretty cold but I always feel the warmth from the staff when I’m in their establishment. Service was excellent as expected and because I was a lone diner, the attentive servers would come check up on me.

I had the 2-course lunch menu which for me was just the right amount of food coupled with 2 glasses of wine and a coffee with a variety of delicious chocolates to end off the meal. The burrata with the charred chicoree was well balanced while the chicken “dumpling” dish was like comfort food for the cold, grey day. I would have personally preferred more proteins within both dishes but it was reasonable for what was offered.

Some restaurants may not be creating mind blowing, out of this world dishes but rather, they exist to uphold and sometimes elevate the classics. Sophia’s to me has always been about the “hug” that its food brings me and I thoroughly enjoyed going back there.

Food: excellent, both dishes are fresh and unique.
Service: friendly, very good at suggesting.

Amazing cocktails ! Specially the espresso martini with a twist just ask for it to Sally and Max. We are definitely coming back again and again. Next time we are going to try also the restaurant that’s has an amazing chill ambiance and a view of the gardens.

Food was great, I was not fond of one of the appetizers but others liked it. It was very busy so drink service was very slow, everything else was great.

Was staying at the hotel on a summer evening and did dinner at this restaurant. The outdoor seating is stellar - right across from a park, so rather quiet. Had the filet mignon and the desert special of the night. Both were superb, almondy with the bread/butter and cucumber soup that were provided. Staff was phenomenal and the woman that helped me pick a wine was very knowledgeable about wines in Europe. Espresso was smooth.

Update: I've been here a few nights. There is one woman (who even remembered my name) who is superb, and the rest of the staff seems rather inexperienced. I got very lucky on night one when she waited on me. Ravioli was OK, but nothing that made me want more (pine nuts and topping were better than the cheese filling).

Incredible meal from start to finish. Highlights were homemade pasta and filet. Everything was delicious and you could tell a lot of time, effort, and detail went in to the dishes. Bravo!

A lovely hidden gem with excellent service and delicious food. We dined for dinner outside and it was quiet and intimate. Had the daily special, seared tuna, and though Asian, it had a unique and outstanding preparation.

this is one of the best restaurants I tried in Germany.

Server(sorry didnt ask your name...) explained very well the wine lists and recommended us a very good wine that fits well with our meal.

First surprise was coming from the breads. For initial breads, there wete two different types of breads AND a jar of pumpkin hummus, prosciutto, chestnuts, and black salt. They were served in aesthetic plate.

Second surprise was a main course duck breast. The server asked us if we want peppers and we said yes. He brought a fine pepper grinder and explained how it's different from the peppers on the table. I liked the explanation as well.

Lastly, we got yuzu creme brulee and it was amazingly beautiful. Not like typical oven-ware bowl, they used a beautiful pasta bowl for serving creme brulee. Just fantastic.

Totally recommen this place for very delicious foods with aesthetically perfect plating at a reasonable price.

Visited here for my girlfriends birthday. The food was top tier and sparked interesting conversation between us. The staff couldn’t do enough. Would highly recommend.

We have just some drinks at the piano bar! Very nice with good music! The said that the food is very good! It looked delicious! We are going there next time for sure to eat!

Definitely the best restaurant in Munich. Excellent food, and the bar is far beyond any expectation and praise. Can also order a custom cocktails.
Service is excellent. Has been twice here, for dufferent occasions, and the place constantly keeps the bar.
Live music on some day, piano and jazz.

Absolutely the most delicious breakfast ever. Worth the price, small cozy restaurant, service was great, amazing variety of foods and drinks. All fresh and delicious.
