Gasthof Schönau

A bit out of our way but we stop here for a meal every time we drive to South Germany.
The food is delicious. The rooms are also very nice but we only once stayed here due to the price for the whole family of 4 not being quite affordable.

The food is delicious, we always take the baked goat cheese salat and a pizza and something for the children.

We come here often from Ansbach for great food and great service with wonderful outdoor ambience!

We did not stay at the guest house but have been here multiple times for the restaurant with the staff being friendly every time.

Because of the pandemic, take-out orders are required. In any event, I ordered two items such as a pizza and a salad. When I got there, the charges were for two salads and a pizza. After some discussion, the owner cleared the confusion and all was fine. Therefore, a very professional outcome that was handled properly.

Great little hotel, restaurant, and biergarten. The menu is small, and mostly split between basic German and Italian dishes. Everything we tried was very good, particularly the pizza, which compares favorably to pub/bar pies you'd find in the U.S. We came back three times for lunch and dinner during our stay in the Heilsbronn area.

Gasthod Schönau is a family favorite & our go-to for large gatherings. The atmosphere outside is a picturesque biergarten with a serene pond that often has swans & koi. There is ample seating outside, both open & covered.
Inside is an authentic gashtof with a brick oven in an open style kitchen where a neatly dressed Italian chef prepares mouthwatering pizzas & other pastas al forno. Fireplaces are used in the winter, adding to the cozy welcoming feel of the place.
The food never fails to please, The kinds of flavors you should stop eating because you're full, but finish because it's too good to let the waiter take it away.
Good wines, delicious beer, attentive, excellent service & amazing food. The waitstaff are multi lingual too, which makes things easier.
I recommend making reservations. They stay busy. Call ahead, but be prepared with a German translator, as the pertain who answers the phone for that rarely understands that I need a reservation for dinner, and not for a room (my Deutsch is a work in progress). Bon appetit!

Great tasting food, courteous service, cozy atmosphere and patient with kids. It's an authentic German restaurant with quality Italian food too. We loved our dinner here.

We have been eating, drinking and having friends and family stay at the Schönau for years! We live in Heilsbronn and always receive delicious food (Italian and German), great beer and wonderful hospitality. Schönau is dog and kid friendly! It is always clean and friendly. Whether you are in Heilsbronn, Ansbach, Neuendettelsau or Nürnberg, you should eat, drink, stay and celebrate here!
