Just for the black forest cake alone, I’d give this place 5 stars. Best black forest cake I’ve had so far. There is good balance between the fresh and light cream, fluffy sponge and sweet pitted cherries. Did not expect this as the place looks like a pit stop along the road. The decor adds to the rustic charm of the place. Was pleasantly surprised!

We stumbled upon this place on our vacation for coffee before we started our day and ended up having brunch. The cafe is in such a great location with a view of the stream behind it. On a nice summer day, it's perfect for a meal and coffee by the stream. Would definitely revisit when we're back in the vicinity.

Fresh Homemade Black forest cake. This place is a beauty. We wanted to taste the real home made black Forest cake. By the time we arrived (18:15) they were sold out and have no more cake left. Looking at us being disappointed, the Cuckoo's Nest team asked if we have time and can wait for 20 minutes so that they can make us one. The wait was worth. Never had so yummy and fresh Black forest cake. The cherries, the cream and all melted in freshness, tasted the best ever.
A beautiful place, decorative and the ambience was so good.

The Best Homemade Black-forest Cake - We read the positive reviews on Google and went to Cuckoo’s Nest for some Black Forest Cake but when we reached it was completely sold out. The family running the place was very nice and friendly. They felt bad that we came so far and that they could not offer us any. They mentioned that the next cake was being prepared and that it would take another hour or so. We decided to have some snacks for our kids and then spend some time in the open air museum just beside. It started raining soon and so we rushed back to this place and were glad to find the cake was prepared. And oh boy, it was the best and freshest Black Forest cake we had in our whole trip. We were so impressed that we returned back the next day on our way back to Frankfurt.

Nice cafe with the most friendly people I've met. The food, ice cream & beer were good, it's outside the open air museum and sits right on the river. Stop by if you're in the area, you'll enjoy it.

Touring through Black Forest we stopped for the heritage park and found the Cuckoo's Nest. Great ice cream, after out tour in the park we had lunch and it was a pleasant surprise. I don't normally get that good a food in a "gift shop" but turns out the owners have a long history in the food and beverage industry. Traveled the world and have returned to the family business. It's a great stop for the two attractions there and the restaurant and they stock some different souvenirs. Sure they sell the clocks but they got some other neat stuff also.

Stopped at this place (again) on the way to Lake Konstanz. The staff were so friendly and it had a great terrace right next to the river! Absolutely loved all the souvenirs: they were unique to any other store in the area and great to bring home to Australia. The food was also cheap and yummy. I highly recommend the homemade blackforest cake!! :)

Best mojito I’ve had in years. The Black Forest cake was far superior to the extremely popular Cafe König in Baden-Baden. The owner’s brought our dogs out a pail of cold water and cut up sausages to enjoy, which was simply lovely. Well done for making so much of your food from scratch! 🎉

I visited Black Forest for a weekend along with my friends and came to know about this cafe through google suggestions. I think this is the best place for a quick lunch.
This cafe has the best beef burger! Schwarzwald burger it is! And the Black Forest cake was so delicious. Love from India.

We stopped in and had the black forest cake 10/10 if your passing I would highly recommend you stop and try it.It is freshly made in the shop by the owner and all I can say is WOW what a delight

Best Cheeseburger in Baden-Württemberg!! Especially when you get the Black Forest Burger!! Been here 3 1/2 years and always a great stop with the family! Great gift shop as well not to mention all of the other treats…oh yeah get the Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte (German Black Forest Cake) that is also wonderful!

You have to go here on your way through Germwny. The hotdogs were delicious, and they have these monster freak shakes that were absolutely the best things ever. The proportion is so much, the icecream amazing, m&ms, oreos, a hand-made cornetto pressed in it, and the milkshake ice ice cold. They have cool water spraying around the outside from the roof, so it was perfect for this very hot day. I was in my happy place here.

Had a wonderful experience. It was the most scenic cafe i have been to and the food was absolutely amazing. The truffle parmesan fries were to die for and even the wraps were delicious. The truffle mayonnaise was a highlight which was specially prepared by the owner himself. He was even kind enough to gift me some. The lady owner was very sweet and recommended us some beautiful little towns to visit and it was the best day trip itinerary. Lovely place! Must visit.

During our holiday in the Black Forest we had huge trouble finding some yummy food. Well this is the place. Great vegetarian food as well. Well done !!!

We loved our visit to the Cuckoos Nest Gutach. The food was so delicious and the little gift shop was nice. The bathrooms were super nice. The shop owners we so great. The only thing is that you may want to call head to reserve Black Forest cake.
