Great place to stay in the jungle. The place is cut off from the world with a 2-hour boat ride from Coco followed by a canoe paddle ride in a dug out boat so you real feel cut off. There is WiFi though, if you'd prefer to stay connected.

Guides are knowledgeable and show you lots of places to see wildlife.

There's an observation tower where you can observe the jungle canopy.

La selva is just a short but beautiful canoe ride up a little River after the docking point. The guides are experts at finding wildlife, birds and monkeys alike. They're knowledgeable about plants and astronomy as well! Ask away they can answer your questions!

The local guides are amazing and are part of a community project. One of the activities is to visit the local community and taste local foods!

There's lots of downtime activities if you need a break. Yoga, fishing, and massages.

This is one of the top lodges to stay along the Rio Napo. Unfortunately, the prices of any good lodge in this area are very steep. I booked a 5-day-4-night stay coming with a boat from Coca (San Francisco de Orellana). It seems like most people that visit here first fly from Quito to Coca and visit Ecuador to only stay in the Amazon and the Galapagos, missing out some of the best scenery and wildlife along the way between Quito and Coca. That is exactly what we did: bird our way slowly from Quito, staying at various places along the way (Papallacta, San Isidro, Wild Sumaco) in order to have a more gentle introduction to the amazing variety of wildlife in the lowlands. I was guided by Jose. He was a top top bird guide with exact knowledge of all territories of all resident birds around the lodge and at the other side of the Rio Napo. All guided walks / boats are included so go for it and visit river islands, the canopy tower, the clay lick, the Yasuni reserve... Most people tend to stick close to the lodge and miss out on the best hours of day (early and late). The food was very good and the lodge is near a splendid cocha (lake), so I understand why people stick at the lodge but still... From what I heard, the lodge has become a sort of spa so it is catering even more towards those who can splash the cash and enjoy all kinds of luxury activities. Each one his hobby, but I find it a little sad that the best places on earth to enjoy the wonders of biodiversity are taken over by people who are not really aiming to get the most out of it. If I can recommend something to the lodge owners, it would be to create some more basic, cheap facilities / basic full board for birdwatchers / nature lovers.

Had the best time here, breathtaking views and sights. The food is amazing, and fair for tourists with local and healthy ingredients. I will be coming back! Thankyou Paúl out the amazing guiding!

Tolles Erlebnis. Ecotourism boomt.
