Milpe Bird Sanctuary - Mindo Cloudforest Foundation

Very nice people working hard to preserve the local habitat and the birds that live there.

Just a great place with lots of birds and nice trails.

I stayed in the student/budget housing for two nights. It was amazing to be able to walk the extensive network of trails first thing in the morning as well as after dark. There is a simple kitchen one can use and taxis to the location from Los Bancos are only $3. I’m so grateful to have found a birder’s paradise that can be visited on a tight budget. Loved falling asleep to the sound of rain on the metal roof and owls calling.

For the self-guided birdwatcher, this is one of the best deals I've found in Ecuador! Low priced rooms including a dormitory, communal kitchen, and plenty of trails for hiking. This reserve is also within walking distance of a bus stop to easy to access without a car. Saw manakins displaying, two snake species, and lots of frogs!

Un lugar de conservación importante, con senderos cómodos y otras facilidades, pero también con una naturaleza exhuberante y posibilidades de caminata para los más intrepudos.
A tan solo 3 minutos de la vía Quito - San Miguel de los Bancos km91, a 5 minutos de Los Bancos.

Totalmente recomendable. Hay opciones de hospedaje aunque no lo sabíamos, así que solo visitamos durante el día, el personal nos brindó su apoyo para conocer el lugar, tienen un hide muy bien construido para la observación de aves.

Excelente lugar con buen servicio. Muchas aves pero en especial el leek de los Club-Winged Manakin donde vimos hermoso su display.

Splendide réserve à tous points de vue. Hébergement très confortable et très abordable (25$ par personne). Bravo à la Fondation Milpe Cloudforest.
