We loved this visit with Hostería Posada de Tigua. Beautiful home and history that the owners share with you while making and sharing a lovely meal. This is a family home, and the owners are generous and kind with kids, who loved making cheese and bread, and milking cows. It is rustic and remote, but cozy and special and definitely worth building into your Ecuador journey.

My friends and I spent 2 weeks in Ecuador and the Posada de Tigua was one of our all time favorites!

We finished our 3 day trek from Isinlivi - Chugchilan - Quilotoa & finally to Tigua and it felt like gold at the end of the rainbow! Felipe was an amazing host and took the time to get to know us and show us is amazing farm.

We got to milk cows make cheese and spend time feeding the lovely animals who called the Posada de Tigua home!

The food that was provided to us and was cooked in front of us by Felipe and his lovely assistant Luz! They were such great people to get to know and it was a pleasure to learn the history of the Posada as well.

Thank you hosting us and we will definitely come again the next time we’re in Ecuador!

An incredibly unique experience in the Andean mountains.

We were warmly welcomed by our hosts and enjoyed a wonderful dinner that evening with other guests in the hacienda.

We were also shown around the farm where we feed some sheep. We also made cheese and enjoyed it the following morning for breakfast.

Would highly recommend if you are travelling through Ecuador. We’ll forever have special memories of our stay there!

Our stay at the Hosteria Posada de Tigua was one of the highlights of our trip to Ecuador. The grounds are lovely and the hosts make you feel welcomed like family. We had so much fun milking the cows, touring the farm, and having evening tea and dinner with the other guests. Staying at Hosteria Posada de Tigua was an experience that won't be forgotten. The location is perfect to visit Cotopaxi and Quilitoa Lake. There are rooms with private bathrooms available which was a great perk. If you want solitude and to immerse yourself in a cultural and natural experience this is the place for you! Would absolutely recommend and will forever be grateful for our experience at the farm!

This fantastic venue is a little off the main road down a (admittedly bumpy) dirt road, but it is well worth the trip. We originally intended to stay one night but ended up staying for two, as we enjoyed our experience so much. The proprietors (Margarita and Felipe - I hope I have the spelling correct) are extremely accommodating and eager to please. In addition to the normal amenities, they shared with us a number of interesting extras such as the history of the farmhouse, how to make cheese, and the origin of the many antiques hanging on the walls. They were also very accommodating of our dog, who ended up being quite popular. The food was fresh and quite delicious, the rooms were clean, and the overall vibe was extremely relaxing (minus the geese... they have their own agenda).

Overall, would definitely stay here again!

What a special stay! We felt welcomed like family! Pablo taught us to milk the cows and Felipe taught us to make a lovely cheese with that milk. And hot water bottles in the bed at night were delightful. We enjoyed our stay very much

Stayed here one night as part of my hiking tour with Andean Face tours. This place is a little remote so really look for where to turn off. If you’re coming from one direction there’s a big rock with Posada Tigua painted on it in black and white. This place is a functioning farm which made it unique and interesting. I loved looking at all the animals: cows, sheep, geese, alpacas, etc. I even got to learn how to milk a cow! The owner was incredibly welcoming and friendly. I got to practice my bad spanish and he was so patient and gracious. The breakfast the next day was cheese, yogurt, and milk from the farm’s cows. The dinner was incredibly delicious, all three courses. I was most touched when he gave us hot water bottles to take back to our rooms to warm our beds. The rooms are comfortable. I felt warm enough with the electric heater and all the blankets in the bed. There’s also no wifi or good reception out here. But this is a great chance to enjoy the views, eat delicious food and have restful sleep. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

This is a really interesting place to stay and experience the real Ecuador. This working farm has dairy cows, sheep, llamas, and more, with the food served coming mainly from the farm. The cooking is authentic and delicious. The bed was very omfortable and had many thick blankets to stay warm. The bed was also pre-warmed with a hot water bottle. Huge breakfast gave me energy for the day ahead. The owner showed my alot of details about the farm including how to make cheese (which was delicious), how to milk a cow, the various kinds of livestock and their purpose, the kitchen garden, and so on.

fabulous farm deep in the Andes. No wifi connection so you’d be cut off. everything you eat there is prepared from their own farm. Felipe, the manager, is the best host and cooks scrumptiously.
