Cotopaxi refugee parking

4630 meter altitude parking :-) Up to this point you can get by car. The road is really bad, so take a 4x4 jeep or pickup (you will see some people with small sedans, but they are crazy!) From here you can walk up to Cotopaxi refugee.

It is a challenging hike but it is worth visiting it. The volcano is over 19,000 above sea level. The weather is very unpredictable. It can change at any time. Bring a walking stick—jacket, hat, gloves etc.

The day trip we did here was fantastic! We hired a guide, did a nature walk, hiked to the first refuge, then went horse riding out over the tundra. A perfectly lovely day.

This parking it's the most close to el refugio, the way up it's quite hard if you go by walk but by car it's easy going.

Rent a 4x4 at the exit of the freeway and drive to this parking to walk up the volcano. It's a parking lot where you get out, nothing more nothing less

Parqueadero con mucho espacio para dejar tu vehículo en las faldas del Cotopaxi, a una altura aproximada de 4.630 msnm, de ahí puedes iniciar la caminata hacia el Refugio Jose Rivas 4.864 msnm

El parqueadero es amplio y cómodo. Se puede dejar el auto, incluso toda la noche, y es muy seguro. Hay suficiente espacio de parqueo así sea un día pico de visitas. Está bastante cerca del refugio y es fácil llegar desde el control de ingreso. Recomendable para visitar.

Es uno de los mejores lugares para visitar ....puedes ver al Cotopaxi tan cerca.... necesitas un carro 4x4 para llegar hasta allá...te recomiendo llevar ropa abrigada y cómoda si quieres ir hasta el refugio donde podrás comprar chocolate caliente, te de coca y empanadas....las empanadas más o menos....

La segunda vez que fui hice la escala al refugio con amigos y fue super la experiencia

En este punto es donde llegan todos los vehículos, para llegar acá es recomendable contar un todo terreno (4X4, 4WD), si vas en un vehículo pequeño y no logras llegar a este lugar, asegura tu vehículo en la vía junta a otros de tracción sencilla y empiza a caminar, dependiendo hasta donde llego tu vehículo te tomara de una a dos horas llegar al parqueadero.
