Scandinavian chic meets local junipers. Run by English-Swedish-Estonian family originating from same village. Place is straight out of Architectural Digest. Probably the best restaurant on island

No words can describe how much we love this place. Have been there both during the summer and autumn time and Pilguse is amazing in every season and with every weather.
The atmosphere Maria and her family were able to create can be hardly met anywhere else. You can enjoy cosy evening by the fireplace in the restaurant space or in the greenhouse, go to smoke or Iglu sauna, have a delicious lunch/ dinner (smoked trout is truly the best we have ever tried) in the restaurant and so many other things to do.
Already counting days till our next trip there:)

What a wonderful weekend my husband and I just had at the Pilguse Residency. Absolutely stunning location, surrounded by endless nature. We swam in the beautiful natural pool, we had a smoked sauna which was incredible. The restaurant was a delight - we had the best smoked trout we've ever eaten (and my husband is Finnish!) The interior design is tastefully done and our room was extremely comfortable. The attention to detail at this place is inspiring and everyone working there was friendly and accommodating. We are booking to go back next spring and can not wait!

Our 4 day stay at Pilguse was fantastic. Pilguse is an unpretentious family style nature getaway with fantastic grounds, saunas and history. Everyone was extremely nice and super thoughtful. The team went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time. The food was amazing and the Dutch chef was very accommodating. I would recommend staying in the mirror cabins, new extension or the laundry house. Great place for a family or couples to get away.

Our favourite place to stay at in Saaremaa. Understated with a cold steam to dip in, smoke sauna, just a sauna, canoeing on the little lake, horse riding at the farm next door. Wonderful place to stay at. Great to see how Pilguse is extending and improving by each year.

Lovely place in the Estonian countryside. Coming from London, this place is beautiful and scenic. Great place to come for downtime and getting away from the hustle and bustle of London.

Absolutely stunning place. A perfect combination of authentic country side and minimalistic Scandinavian luxury. The main magic of this place comes from the host Maria, who is like the favourite aunt that you wish you had. My friend came here with me for a few days and now considers to stay until the end of summer so that should say a lot about this place! :)

What a beautiful and lovely place! So many things to do and enjoy, and even more to come. Special thanks to the lovely host and chef! We had very interesting talks and the food was delicious, especially the cheesecake! Will come again 100%!

Beautiful setting, lovely hosts, very tasty meals, historical buildings very carefully restored to comfortable rooms with nice beds, hot showers. The quiet and peaceful energy in this place will make you relax and recharge completely.

Mõnus, kodune koht. Toit oli viimase peal - puhtalt juba nende hommikusöögil pakutud saiakeste pärast läheks tagasi. Mõnusad toad, kasutatakse rohkelt kohalikke tooteid - suur soovitus !

Ein wirklich toller Ort. Auf der Website wird understatement betrieben. Es gibt einen Naturpool/teich. Man sollte abends dort essen. Bei untergehender Sonne ist es super schön.

Privaatne maamõis, mis pakub majutust peamajas, eraldi puhkemajas või naudid ÖÖD maja võlusid. Iglusaun, suitsusaun. Lisaks imeline söök. Kuressaarest 10-15 min autosõidu kaugusel. Aja maha võtmiseks ideaalne koht.

Tyylikkäästi entisöity kartano miljöö.

"Первые сообщения о поместье Пильгус (нем. Hoheneichen ) относятся к 1558 году. Со времен средневековья и до конца 18 века усадьба принадлежала фон Беллинсгаузенам, отсюда и эстонское название усадьбы. Адмирал Фабиан Готлиб фон Беллинсгаузен, всемирно известный мореплаватель и исследователь Антарктиды, происходил из поместья Пильгус - точно неизвестно, родился ли он в Пилгусе или в соседнем поместье Лахетагус (как правило, предпочтение отдается последнему варианту), но он был связан с поместьем в любом случае.
Позднее поместье принадлежало фон Люсам, фон Адеркасам, фон Нолькенам и фон Рактешеллям. В начале 20 века усадьба перешла в собственность Аграарбанка. Однако в 1909 году в главном здании поместья разместилась психиатрическая больница Сааремаа Рюйтельконна. Больница работала в здании усадьбы до конца 1980-х годов.
Каменное главное здание поместья с мансардным этажом было построено, вероятно, в середине 18 века; он дошел до нас и в 19, и в 20 веках в видоизмененном виде. Жемчужиной поместья являются две каменные колонны вдоль въездной дороги – они отчасти похожи на аналогичные колонны поместья Вихула в Вирумаа , но уникальны для Сааремаа своей более архаичной формой и формой. Характерны также два стрельчатых арочных здания ворот, окаймляющих парадную площадь главного корпуса. От усадьбы сохранился ряд 18-19 века хозяйственных построек.
Усадьба в частной собственности; его коровник был переоборудован в гостевой дом, где также можно организовывать различные мероприятия."
