By far the best bookshop in Aswan (and quite possibly all the way to Luxor at least). A fine collection of books on Egypt, its history, religion and art. Available in English, French, Italian and other languages - from kids and casual readers to the advanced scholars, they have something for everybody - plus some very special collector's editions. The owner, Mr. Imam Sabri, knows the Egyptian press quite well and will gladly help you find the most appropriate book for you.

If you visit the Unfinished obelisk, the bookstore is on the way out. To get in without a ticket, ask politely the security guard (keep asking politely if necessary). Keep in mind the bookstore has to observe the museum's opening hours, so it closes early, at 4 PM.

Excellent bookstore located in the Unfinished Obelisk. Ask the police guard at the main entrance to let you through if you have already been to the Obelisk before. The shop carries books from the American University of Cairo. Excellent range of texts available, e.g. on Egyptian monuments, Egyptian society, Egyptian cuisine etc. They also have a children's section to get your kids started early on Egyptology! Friendly owner (Imam Sabri) and son (Muhammad). Prices are not inflated, all at publisher's prices. They accept payment via credit card, also in USD and Euros. Overseas shipping available. Worth a visit if you have time to spare in Aswan.

If you’re passionate about Egyptology then this is seriously the best bookstore in all of Egypt. The prices are great, the selection is mind blowing and the people are very knowledgeable and helpful.

Very impressive bookstore, has a great variety of English books about Egypt and Egyptian culture and Nubian culture, and also many English translation of contemporary Arabic books. The owner is very educated Nubian, he is very knowledgeable about Egyptian history and culture
