Absolutely amazing place, different than the commonwealth memorial but in my opinion even more impressive! Beautiful view over the ocean and camping is possible on the premises! There is a security guard at the entrance and he calls a guy that will open the fortress like building for you! Entrance is free but we tipped the guy with 20LE

The main building was built in 1959 out of limestone extracted from the same area, which gives overall a very authentic charm. The building is in very good shape.

The memorial contains the bodies of 4280 German soldiers. At the Entrance, it stands an impressive golden mosaic, to the right of the Entrance is a small chapel where families and friends honour the dead with wreaths, Photographs and memorial ribbons

Abdou, the Beduin caretaker, is very respectful and very helpful.

Memorial place for German soldiers died in world War II

Deep, thoughtful, and graceful building built out of limestone extracted from the same very area, wich gives a deep sence of Earthiness and solidarity to the geographic place those soldiers died.

From the outside it it looks like a medival citadel, once you are inside the armored steel door, you welcomed by a Gilden Mosaic / Fresco reminding you of the purpose of this monument.

The whole interior has a rather old Germanic style with a deep sense of respect and resentfulness for the deeds and horrors of war.

Abdou the Beduin guide in Birkenstock slippers speaks English and German, he is the keeper of the place, and he is very respectful and polite, and very helpful.

This is one of the three Warld War 2 memorials plus a museum that are close to each other. These three memorials remind us that war is hell for all sides.

Serene place adjacent and overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. The memorial is made with local stone materials which give it a natural look.

It's like the glory of those who died for their country revived in the glory of those who built it. May they all rest in peace. Until we meet
