Venta El Refugio

Great place with so much tradition and character. All home cooked food. Very cosy with log fire which was very much needed on the particular day we visited. The owner / chef (Claudio) was a right character, singing while he was cooking and our waitress was excellent and very attentive. The single track getting up there was fun, but it’s all part of the mountain experience. The views are breathtaking !! 😀👌

Excellent natural and locally grown food and products. Located on the mountain about 5km from the coast of Estepona.
Great service and reasonably prices considering it's on the mountain.
Views of the coast and Gibraltar are spectacular aswell.

It’s a 5km one lane road up the mountain to get there. If your car is big or you aren’t an experienced driver, don’t risk it. For those that can the view is breathtaking, there is a comforting fireplace inside, and the food is really superb.

You won't find a more interesting location!l, and the food and service was fantastic. 1400m up and a delicious freshly made lunch. Tried some local cheese as well and it was fantastic. Also nice benefit of being 5C cooler than the sea level temperature.

What an amazing place! Superb homemade Spanish dishes on top of the world. The views are stunning, the hosts are very friendly and helpful and the food was very very tasty indeed. I will be back many times!

I found this place by accident. I didn't have any cash with me, but (I assume the owner) offered me the option of transferring the money when I got home, as the internet signal is weak in the mountains. I have never experienced such overwhelming hospitality. Everyone is very friendly and the quality of the food is excellent. I definitely recommend a visit to this place.

Los Realse Y Mirador Refugio is a restaurant situated on top of the mountain Bermeja a great place were to eat, at a very good price with a well educated owner, food was great and above all awesome views.

Photo from nearby. Further up the mountain. We had the secreto iberico. It was excellent... No question the place is rustic.. But we loved it. It was cold up there and in the restaurant also. Probably would have been warmer if punters would not have kept crowding round the fire. Our Spanish is not great but we had no problems with the staff.

We were heading back from Pico de Realias and saw this place. At first we have doubts to even enter it, but then we went in. This is an amazing cozy restaurant with local Spanish food. Staff is very friendly, menu is only in Spanish but they helped us with the translation (network signal is weak here, Google Translate might not be working for you 🤭)

Walked up 4.4 km from the main road with fantastic views along the way to this fine little restaurant. The chef presented the menu of specialities and we asked him to put together a combination of dishes from his recommendations. The meal was truly amazing, worthy of any gourmet restaurant! And only 65 Euros for the two of us. Truly memorable and higly recommended!

Magical lunch with the warmest staff, 3 out of 4 of us were vegan and considering it's so remote we were so impressed with the quality of the produce - so fresh and they just improvised to please us. Ask for the tomato and avocado salad, and for meat eaters definitely try the croquettes !
