Tabernas Desert

Well worth a visit, even a long detour..... It can snow at the end of March so have warm clothes handy just in case

This was one of the milestones during my motorbike journey in Iberia in 2019. It would be enough saying that it was the scenography for many Spaghetti Western movies. It's a place unique in Europe. I was there alone, with my motorbike and a thunderstorm over my head. Only a word: terrific!! The road to get there was plenty of holes, big rocks and narrow, but if you keep attention it's feasible.

The only desert in Europe. Over 500 films were shot there, and the towns built for the films are now tourist attractions. Fantastic unique landscapes. It's definitely worth going here and staying for a few hours in one of the film towns.

Well worth to spend a day and hike up to the mirador or other parts of the dessert. The views are great!

The only desert in Europe. Well preserved, great location for wandering around and taking photos. Easiest way to explore the location is to parc at mini Hollywood. There are three hikes that show you the way through these barren landscapes.

Something for everyone! Great shows and some amazing animals. We had the inclusive menu, which again was very good. Great value, something like this in England would be £50 - 60 PP but only cost us approximately £30 PP for adults and £20 for kids.

We went there deliberately and don’t regret i! A bit spooky, yet very interesting. Scenic place with some attractions. Possibly worth to go for a walk away from the main roads. Which we did not do due to lack of time…

Super fun place to visit for the day! So cool to see the area prepared for a western to be filmed at any time! As someone from the United States living in Spain, I especially enjoyed the scenery! We watched the reenactment as well and it was very entertaining. They have a bar/restaurant if you want to eat or have a drink while you are there.

If you're finding the beach area a little breezy then visit the desert. We hired a car to do a road trip for the day and it was 6 degrees warmer further inland hitting 31 degrees!! Although it felt miles hotter being in a desert.

The views are gorgeous too and with the nearby zoo and western (oasys) you can spend a full day in this area easily.

For those of you that like to explore this place is a must! It's Europe's only desert and is breathtakingly beautiful. It's been used in multiple films and is something everyone should experience. There are a couple of theme parks here based on Hollywood movies and the film industry....

A must see in Andalusia!!! If you’re nearby you cannot miss it. It was really amazing to discover this, the only desert in Europe. Don’t hesitate to take a guided tour of the Desert. This will allow you to hav a complete explanation on the history, the films, the environment and generally speaking on nature.

No need to go to Nevada...

Absolutely fantastic the landscape was amazing and we visited the oasis from Laurencekirk of Arabia

Wonderful nature. The only limitation is that it's very hard to escape the noise (and sight) of the Autovia which runs through the desert (at least when you are doing a standard desert hike).

Beyond the stunning vistas, for those who have fallen in love with the movies there are so many favorite places to visit: the oasis from Lawrence of Arabia, the dynamited bridge from Once Upon a Time -- The Revolution (Duck Your Sucker), so many hills and plains from the Dollar westerns. Watch closely when exploring Tabernas, dear fellow movie aficionados!

I've enjoyed the trip, I hired a company for a hike and I've been in lots of places where movies have been filmed. I recommend it

Bigger than expected when you look at it from outside. Really nice for a walk. Calm and hot :)
