El Tejar (Estepona)

It's a busy restaurant with indoor and outside seating. Staff super friendly and helpful. Typical basque dishes and wine. Best avocado, prawn and mango salad I've tasted!
Tapas menu great, you cannot pick a bad one. Great wines from the North and the rest of Spain. I'd advise to book or go early as its popular.

What an absolutely wonderful place!

We had the lengua en salsa, tuna tartar, nuestro taco, almejas, and a brownie to cap it all off. (Plus a vermouth with lemon and syrup). The tongue (lengua) was incredibly tasty and tender, with a delicious sauce. The tartar was very well balanced and tasty, and a good portion size, too. Nuestro taco was more akin to what Americans would call a quesadilla or a fajita of sorts, but it was probably the best item we had there! Juicy chicken, good cheese, tasty veggies, and a really nice spicy mayo sorta sauce alongside. The clams (almejas) were very tasty, albeit a bit salty, but the broth was delicious. And the brownie was not too sweet, almost a dark chocolate brownie, and had a really great taste.

Our server was incredibly friendly and helpful, and this restaurant in general is just wonderful. Absolutely recommend!

Excellent in every way. Authentic Spanish tapas (full of Spanish families it's advisable to book in advance), attentive and very friendly staff and most importantly excellent quality, home-made food. The oxtail was my highlight! We'll be back for sure

Not every dish is exquisite, but they are all tasty. Varied menu, good prices and fabada on Wednesday. We keep coming back!

The best Basque-style tapas in Estepona. Really worth a visit.

I've probably been to about 20 tapas bars in Estepona at time of writing, and El Tejar - along with Toque - are my favourites.

Love this place. Have been coming here for years. Well priced, great variety of pintxos and wines, the raciones are also fantastic. They always have so thing out of menu as well to tempt you. Well priced and the service is always friendly. Of note, the "secreto ibérico" is fantastic

I didn't want to write this review as I don't want more people to know about it. But boy, this place is amazing. I've been to the Basque region many times, and this was like being back in Bilbao. Quite frankly some of the best tapa and pintxos I've had.

Have been going to this tapas bar for about 5 years and it’s a delight to have it back, post Covid, and better than ever. Off the beaten track but well known to locals who frequent it. Paco, the owner is a delight, as are all the staff. His paella is just the best. Great food, great wine and great ambiance.

The food was as good as the service. Laurena (the waiter) was so lovely and made the experience unforgettable. If you are in Estapone it is a must place to go, very authentic experience and the food was just the best.

A place you will want to revisit. Outstanding traditional tapas foods served by energetic cheerful staff. A 12 min walk from edge on Old Town and so worth it. It is popular and in warm weather you will have to wait for a table.

We love this place, the food is delicious, the staff is amazing. The tapa portion is big and tasty. SO CHEAP! You have to end your evening with pachanga, the perfect aperitif. The place does get busy but they do not forget you. They are very courteous and looking forward for our next visit. Thank you keep up the good work.
