Hotel Colonial de Santillana · Santillana del Mar - Cantabria

We ate at the restaurant of the hotel after a week of vacation in Suances. It was the best experience we had in the whole week. For a really cheap price of 22€ per person we got first course, an exquisite soup of beans and seafood, second course, an entrecôte with French fries and a little vegetables, and finally a local dessert made with cheese (sweet of course). The lady that served us was the cherry on top. With the typical hospitality of a countryside town, she really made us feel welcomed and relaxed! (As Italians it’s really difficult to satisfy all standards, but it really was perfect)

Such a wonderful small hotel- great service and helpful staff!!!! Very clean, new renovations so bathrooms and bedrooms very fresh and tasteful decor.
Towels are huge and excellent!

Great water pressure and always hot water for a shower!
1 block into the medieval city and 1 block to a laundry mat and butcher.

Great breakfast options- locally made cakes/ toast/ fruit/croissants/ excellent coffee machine (has chocolate option). They will make you eggs and bacon (pancetta) for $2 € extra.

It is by the main road into Santillana del Mar- so if vehicles bother you bring ear plugs. Not much traffic at night.

Hotel Colonial has a very tasteful decoration that lives up to its name and all in all provides a very homely feeling. It has all the modern conveniences and a nice restaurant. Our only small misgiving: It can do with a better wifi repeater upstairs.

I found the Hotel Colonial de Santillana very clean, comfortable and perfectly sized for two people. The bathroom and shower were excellent. You could tell that they made sure that the apartment was spotless!
It's also in a perfect location, within a short walk (2/3 min) to the town centre and 5 minutes by car to the Altamira Caves.
I initially chose this hotel because of the free off-road parking. If you're travelling by car, don't forget to request the barrier code in advance. Furthermore, they clearly explained the area and the attractions nearby. For 50€, I honestly think this is a bargain!

We received a warm welcome at this very characterful and charming hotel, just outside the old town which gave us some respite from the happy tourists.
The room was fine and although the window opened onto the main road into and out of town, it was quiet at night.
Extremely useful having safe, on site parking.
The staff were very helpful and responsive.
One word of warning. . .DON'T go into breakfast NOT feeling hungry; they are massive and lovely.

Lovely setting a definite go back hotel

The staff were all warmly hospitable, to make our stay so enjoyable. The room was great, the location is excellent, and the dinner and breakfasts were top quality.

Everyone was very friendly. The house and our room were in an excellent state. Even though the colonial style today is a controversial issue, it fits very well to the hotel.

Cosy, comfortable hotel right next to the old town and great restaurants. Rooms are very clean, beds are comfortable. Staff is very helpful. Plenty of parking spaces.

The manager, Juan, was taking good care of us the whole time. The place was just refurbished last year and it’s cosy as well as clean. It was so warm, we loved it!

Family run warm n friendly hotel. Clean n fresh. Good place to stay. Nearby Museum of Altimeria for cave paintings is definitely a must.
