Great bar where you experience the proper ‘local’ vibe. It was recommended to us by a lady at a car rental company in Malaga so clearly this place has got a reputation beyond Granada. We loved the craziness of Friday and Saturday nights as well as more subtle mood during the week. As one of the waiters said when I told him I loved this place , ‘it is a mad place’. If you are looking for a proper Spanish authentic bar, this is the one. You can’t book a table , just need to go with the flow …. Which is a part of fun. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

A real feel of what is to be a local.
The place's indoor atmosphere is so authentic and rich. The food was amazing, just what you come in hoping and expecting to find ! Portions are huge, so if you're a solo traveller, ask for plates or for half portions. The service is friendly and welcoming. For the great quality the price is fascinating. They also had the kindness to offer an additional free of charge dish just to try more local foods, nice gesture. Highly recommend this place !

We were recommended by a local because we wanted to eat something local. The restaurant looks very lovely and classic. The food is tasty and the portion is BIG. At first we wanted to order the big portion of assortments but the waiter suggested to order the medium size instead and he was right! Everything is tasty especially the fondue queso y salmón. Really loved it there!

We had an amazing tapas experience here. The place is very traditional, we popped in Sunday for lunch. It was a perfect atmosphere!

We shared some bocadillos, salad, ham, cheese and croquettes. Absolutely delicious!
The red wine was a great choice as well.

Service fast, friendly and attentive. Prices super fair. Huge portions.

Highly recommended! We will be back!

You should know what to expect in this kind of place. It is not a restaurant, it is spanish tapas bodega or whatever way you want to call it. It is a place where people stand at the bar getting a drink or two or... You will get FREE tapas bite with every round. Choice is on bartender ;-) In case you are hungrier than that feel free to order more from their menu. Atmosphere is typical. Dirtier the floor is, the place is better. Go, find yourself a few cm of unoccupied bar and enjoy. There are tables and those are being served, but for us, the fun was at the bar.

Two of us. Main meal of day. Waiter warned the large tabla caliente was too much for two. He was right. We had the medium, super mix of Ham, 5 ways. The 1925 beer was very good. We also had moscatel orange, Unusual but nice treat. The menu has all allergens clearly shown.

Fab place, fab food! I had a (huge) plate of warm assortiment which would have been enough for 2 people. All the meats were delicious and tender, the croquettes hot and tasty, a good variety of vegetables... and service was quick and friendly. I arrived at 4pm so there were tables available but it had been packed with locals, young and old. The bulls head on the wall and the hams hanging around the bar made it a very interesting place to go!

Bodegas Casteñeda offers a delightful culinary experience with their delicious dishes, perfect for sharing. The warm dish for two, priced at approximately 20 Euros, was more than sufficient, and the staff even suggested a smaller portion, showing their attentiveness to customer needs. The Vino de la Casa, priced at 3.5 Euros, was of excellent quality, complementing the meal perfectly. Additionally, the complimentary dessert provided a sweet ending to the dining experience. The staff were exceptionally friendly, making the overall atmosphere welcoming and inviting. I am already looking forward to returning for another enjoyable visit.

After spending an entire afternoon enjoying the Alhambra complex, we asked our private tour guide to recommend a fun place to have food and drinks. We arrived by taxi to a packed and happening Bodegas Castañeda. Luckily, a small table was just being vacated so we were able to quickly get seated. Our multiple plates of tapas, together with way too many copas of Rueda wine, made for a wonderful evening. Bodegas Castañeda was the kind of bar/restaurant where everyone made friends instantly and had a great time together. What a fun experience!

Delicious Tapas! We ordered an assortment plate and it is enough for 4 people! The cod in tomato sauce was one of the best cod that we have eaten

Came back twice during our stay in Granada because of the quality of the tapas and good service. It really feels like the staff enjoy working there, even if it's crowded. Free tapas with every drink (have a vermouth!) and great dishes on the menu as well.

This establishment has a lot of character, particularly in the bar area where the bartenders foster a lively, fun environment. Great wines, vermouths, and tapas. Get there early--we arrived just as it opened and walked directly up to the bar; the restaurant was full by the time we left. Excellent experience overall.

Quality of food and service was excellent. Probably best croquettes we’ve had in Spain so far. Warning, food is not tapas sized - it is full meal size.

We came here after a lovely day wandering the city and the sites with no real plan in mind.
Place was buzzing - full of locals. Beer and wine were lovely and the tortilla tapa was tasty. Because the place was buzzing ordering more to eat took longer to get than anticipated but once that was sorted we were were served quickly with our order.
The jamon iberico and the pate/anchovy tapas was really delicious.
If I’m back in Granada i would happily return. Loved it.

These were the best tapas we had in Granada! We arrived for lunch and were promptly seated. Indoor and outdoor is available if weather permits but outdoor might not be open until a later time. The warm sampler plate was the move here. It's a great assortment of tapas helping you appreciate their dishes. The coquettes were our favorite, and we could have skipped the gazpacho.

Their warm tapas plate is a nice selection of must try things. Very good croquetas. Their house salad was also amazing with sardines, tuna and asparagus. Also a nice selection of fine wines and beers. The waiter was friendly and told us not to order too much food because it would be too much for the two of us. He was right. 😄

We checked online for the best places for Tapas, and this place came up.

We followed directions through the quietish streets, and then turned a corner to find this this place so busy that they had a queue for tables.

We had the mixed tapas and the Alhambra beer which was excellent.

I also had a plate of Anchovies in vimegar with fried potatoes. It was absolutely fantastic

The atmosphere was fantastic and the waiters were very friendly though incredibly busy.

The place to go for Tapas in Granada!

Location: One of the place with bars and restaurant in the city - close to the cathedral
Budget: Can be around 30-35 for two if you share a plates and drinks - Possibly less
Service - Great as they recommend things based on their knowledge
Crowd - Tourists and Locals
Waiting time is quite low as it is a popular place

Impress by the place and the service. The waiter know their jobs and have really good advices on what food to take. I believe depending on how much you eat a shared platter is good for two people.
Their vermouth is home made and suave.
I will recommend to go there if you visit the place. And I recommend the smoked fish platter!

Well worth the line up. The service is very blunt and efficient but it’s all part of the experience! The food was delicious, some of the best we had in Spain. Definitely worth ordering the large share plate.
