We had a fantastic time with Matilda.
Its free to visit, but give a donation- she deserved the help to keep the fantastic work ongoing.
Matilda is fabulous, so knowledgeable, and happy to share it with you.
Visit started with a chat and a cuppa, and an introduction to little Lucy the blind owl. We were there for 3 hours, allowed to handle some of the owls and learn all about them. Not just owls but, turkeys, meerkats, kookaburras, guinea pigs...it was a lovely, interesting and relaxing time. You must give it a visit.

Just had a visit here with hubby and my friend who loves owls. Matilda is fabulous, so knowledgeable, and happy to share it with you. Visit started with a chat and a cuppa, and an introduction to little Lucy the blind owl.
We were there for 2 1/2 hours, allowed to handle some of the owls and learn all about them.
Not just owls here though, turkeys, meerkats, kookaburras, guinea pigs...it was a lovely interesting but relaxing afternoon.
Highly recommended!

A real treat for nature lovers. Beautiful birds of prey, some of which you can hold and touch, some you can see fly and others you can just marvel at. Visits are by reservation only and a donation is welcomed. Informative and interesting, well worth the drive out.

Such an amazing place and experience. Matilda (the owner) is so knowledgeable of all the birds and animals. Being able to handle/stroke some of the owls was the biggest surprise and highlight. Thoroughly recommend.
Thanks Matilda for providing a safe and caring haven.

An excellent experience. Matilda is a great host (arming us with coffees upon arrival) and very knowledgable about the animals in her care. We wanted to steal all the animals, especially Bob the dog! Thank you for a great couple of hours.

Utopia for animals and birds. A well thought out array of dwellings. Matilda has so much knowledge of each of the species. We had a great few hours here in a very relaxed atmosphere. There's no charge to see and touch and hear about all the animals but it would be very polite to leave a donation in order to help with what must be a very substantial cost for food, transport etc. 10/10

Amazing morning with Matilda and her wonderful feathered and furred hosts!
The work undertaken by this lady is quite frankly first class and her knowledge of her feathered friends is unrivalled. Well worth the visit. An absolute gem! Thanks for hosting us and keep up your amazing work.

Fabulous place to visit (Book in advance!!) for an experience not to be forgotten. We were welcomed by Mathilda into her home, a superb example of a cave house, and introduced over coffee to Lucy the Little Owl. One friendly and informal chat about the sanctuary and its residents later, we met and interacted with the other birds and animals while being told about their stories. Most of them are friendly and can be handled, while others are as expected quite wild. We spent almost 3 hours with Mathilda and her "family" and could quite easily have stayed longer. Stick this on your to-do list.

Absolutely a must place to visit. By appointment only, and normally in the morning. Matilda is knowledgeable, enthusiastic and caring about her owls and other animals. We spent 2 hours with her and it was a pleasure to be in her company. We learnt so much from her.

Such a unique and wonderful experience in an authentic cave house in Granada Province. I highly recommend it! The lunch experience consists of a delicious three course lunch while meeting some very cute and friendly owls. All events are private - which is really cool - so it’s just you, your friends & family. Simply brilliant. Very chill atmosphere too where dogs, cats, birds and humans all get along!

It's just magical. They are only open for a shorter visit now twice a week. The birds were a bit shy as they hadn't seen any people for over 3 months. We met the kestrels, they are going out in the big world soon and Babs the kookaburra companion for Sydney. all the meerkats and owls are in great shape and happy to see visitors again.

Hidden gem of a wild bird sanctuary, if it's the last thing you ever do on this earth you have to see to believe what Matilda and her feathered friends do.

The meerkats, dogs and cats are friendly too 💕

A unique experience flying birds of prey in the campo, followed by lunch. A very special day out that is worth every penny.

I have visited Cortijo Buho several times and I highly recommend it to anyone with an interest in Birds of Prey and wildlife in general. The food here is fantastic too, all home made using mostly local produce and as they only cater for small groups it makes for a great place for Birthdays etc.

Such a wonderful couple of hours today....Matilda explained the history behind each bird and lovingly treats them each as family. A joy and privilege to hold and stroke the birds.
Thank you

An excellent day out with the owls and animals, see the owls fly, have them sit on your head and perch on your hand. Lawrence and Matilda keep you informed and entertained for every minute of the day along with a very good lunch. More of an experience than a visit, if you love birds and animals then you must go. Highly recommended.

For those who love birds of prey, especially owls, Cortijo Buho is an amazing experience for adults and children. A private family experience with extremely caring and knowledgeable people, as well as delicious food. Lawrence and Matilda will make you feel comfortable in their home. The welfare of the birds and animals always comes first.
