Cuevas de Baltzola

A very large high cave that can be explored with older kids. The main cave actually connects several sides of the mountain and one quickly looses sense of its huge proportions. You basically go right through the mountain and the entrances offer spectacular views.

The cave itself is huge, wide and has a high ceiling. Here and there you can feel waterdrops falling from the cave’s ceiling, which in itself isn’t bad. But it can cause the bottom to be slippery in places where you could seriously get hurt if you fall.

There are some smaller parallel “tunnels” and/or passages inside the system that are fun and safe to explore with proper lights and being safety conscious. There are many small cracks and openings to be found hidden in the dark and some probably go deeper and further than most are willing to go.

The main cave is being just by rock climbers and so i assume it can get pretty crowded especially during the weekends. The main area is very large so it is easy to avoid the areas where they are exercising their sports. Never walk underneath them as they could fall anytime.

The way leading up to the cave is short and involves a brief 1.2km walk.

The cave itself is not accessible with a stroller or buggy. Not recommended for younger kids!

Large areas are fenced off to preserve the living spaces of many bats living there.

Lugar increíble.
La ruta parte desde la ermita de san Lorenzo.
Es 1,5 km cuesta abajo para llegar. Llevar un capa más para entrar, así como frontales o linternas potentes.
Atravesandola se llega a otra entrada, donde aconsejo salir a ver el jentilzubi. Y luego volver por el exterior ,el mismo camino o por otra gruta por la q baja el río (elegimos esta última).
A la vuelta ver el túnel de Avaro.
Ruta hecha con un niño de 8 años acostumbrado al monte.

Cueva bonita para visitar, si lleváis linterna os podéis adentrar a su interior. Experiencia recomendable.

Me encanta el sitio y se puede ir con niños.
Es una visita anual que hay que hacer para reconectar con la naturaleza.
