Restaurante Marucho

This is the best restaurant we tried in our whole of Spain! Really small place, but you feel right at home. Service is fast and friendly. The food is amazing. We would have tried them all, but we only had 2 days in Santander.

The food was really good! My favorites: anchoas, albondigas de pescado, y la tarta de queso.

We have been for lunch on a Saturday in June 2022. The variety and quality of the seafood is great, and the staff is very friendly and helpful. However, be prepared to spend quite a lot especially if you take tapas of specialities that are sold by price, rather than by portion.

Great, friendly stuff and authentic old school atmosphere. They let us in before the lunch has started, we got wine and pinchos at the bar and a soup was served for all early birds for free. We went there two times and had seefood soup, shrimps and spider crab. I’m not that big expert for seafood and fish but everything felt just right there and I really enjoyed both meals

This restaurant is a real gem. No messing around, straight about fresh seafood prepared to great taste! They don't take reservations, not about linen table clothes or atmosphere, but all about great seafood in a family restaurant setting. I would highly recommend eating here if you want fresh seafood and great no nonsense service.

Small restaurant serving good food.

Omg! We had booked a table in the Restaurant next door, but there was quiet…and at Marucho’s there were a crowd of people what is always a good sign, so…we ask for a table. Wasn’t easy ofc, the bouncer lady took our number but we didn’t believe into success. Within less than 20 minutes we got a table for 4!!!! The food was amazing! Absolutely! Being in Santander and not having a meal over here is such a waste. Thank you ❤❤❤❤❤

Excellent food,! Highly recommend

Very lively place, buzzing vibe, with fantastic fresh seafood. Waiters quite busy so you need to be patient, but the food is worth the wait. The bogavantes was consumed very fast !!
Make sure to book in advance if you want to be seated or just grab a stool on the bar.

This place has been around for a long time. Tye food is great and the second vice friendly and willing to please. It's a small place/bar with some tables, but pleasant and typical Spanish place where looks are not everything butter service are excellent!

The best seafood dining experience in a long time. The lobster was perfectly cooked,the wine was full and tasty. The place has a great atmosphere. Not very cheap but definitely very recommended!

It is not a luxury place, but the fish is simply the best I have tried in Santander. They buy the fish directly from Association of Fishermans and is a great restaurant. It has not the glamour of a luxury restaurant, but it deserves a visit.

Great fish, super tasty, but prices are relatively high: €18-25 for a main course. A bottle of good local wine costs €10-15. Very nice stuff, cozy place, good atmosphere.

A true hidden gem off of the touristy beaten path in Santander! Incredibly friendly service, fresh delicious fish and a casual laid back atmosphere. A must if you fond yourself in the city!

I read great review for Marucho, so we decided to visit this place. We were there around 02:30 pm and outside were lot of people standing, drinking and snacking. Inside was full, but the owner took my phone number and 20 min later she called and said there is a table for us. And it was good decision that we waited because the food was great and it's not expensive as promoted on trip advisor. Great wine for € 10,00 per bottle, great food for justified prices. And they were friendly and were not rude although we can't speak Spanish. I can only recommend it.

This restaurant is a fantastic little gem in Santander. The fish menu is incredible and reasonably-priced, and the wines start at 7 Euro per bottle. We had the daily menu including a fish soup, squid, dessert and wine for 18 Euro. The squid was super tender and delicious, highly recommended! The service is friendly but not overbearing, with perfect timing between courses. The final touch was the chocolate mousse which was scrumptious- rich and silky just as it should be. A superb experience and a pity there is no equivalent in London! Muchas gracias!

Tasty and fresh food, great value for the money
