Picos de Europa National Park Reviews

One of the most beautiful places in Europe to hike. I highly recommend Anillo de Picos and the many mountain refugios.

Fantastic park with a variety of natural wonders and views. The refugios need to have better quality food to reflect the natural environment and habitat.

At the time of visit (September 2022) you can only gain access via the road before 08:00 in the morning. After 8 o'clock, the barrier at Cavadonga is lowered and access is only for arranged guided tours.
We got up early and made the effort and was rewarded with a beautiful sunrise.
Well worth getting up for but the ride up is a little daunting in the dark.
Do it!

An area of truly outstanding natural beauty, there's something for everyone from hiking & climbing, canoeing, gastronomy, flora, fauna & much more. Picturesque, traditional villages provide a warm welcome wherever you go.

Amazing ski location in mountainous Cantabria. It's such a beautiful drive in, too. Cable car was fun. Ski season is in full swing now.

The public car cannot go to the peak of the mountain, but only cable car. The cable car station is at Teleferico Fuente Dé. We bought the tickets from the website. It is better to reserve the tickets from the website, as they control the number of tourist each hour. 18€ for adults, 7€ for kids under 12 years old. We reserved the tickets for 4pm, it seems not to be park timing during a day, not so many people on the top. We spent 40 minutes on the top. If just taking photos and looking around, I think it is enough. This is a must-see scenic spot. Strongly recommend

Lovely place, incredible for hiking, trekking or just sightseeing in any of this mountain's villages. Great restaurants and easy to arrive by car or bus from main city's of this region.
Best time to climb mountain's August to October. Best time to walk with racquets March to April.
Nice refuges in the bottom of the main mountain's.
Easy to enjoy there with wild sports
GPS is helpful there

Beautiful national park with many hikes of different difficulty. Ruta del Cares was easy, the hike to refugio Collado Jermoso was more difficult through the snow. We visited early April.

Excellent place to hike. Most hikes are under 5 hours and you can easily reach the huts. For the trails that are deeper in the mountains you should make sure that you're ready. There's some difficult climbs, steep inclines, and rocky fields. Not reccomended for those with very heavy packs or very small children.

Just pure magic! Every angle presented a new perspective and inspiration. Would love to come back with proper hiking gear though. I cheated and took the cable car up and down but got to spend hours on top! So many trails as well, loved my day there.

What a beautiful place!! Take the time to enjoy and walk around, encounter cows and horses. It was breathtaking and we we're lucky to be above the clouds which gave it a more magical touch. Bring hiking boots and water, because there are long trails.

The headline says this is a well forested mountain range but really the cable car gets you above tree line quickly and you have an excellent high mountain experience. If you are a birder look for the Wallcreeper on the trail going up to the pass. But gets you to some rock walls up close. Look for the high Mt specialties too. Good chance for rare mountain goat too, Cantambrian Chamois.

Picos de Europa is breathtakingly beautiful! The jagged peaks provide an incredibly dramatic backdrop, and there a several hiking trails. I was able to drive through it just fine in a mini, though one hill was a bit steep and would not have been safe to drive in the rain. There are little towns like Sotres that you can stop for cafe or lunch as well. It is definitely worth the trip to come to Picos de Europa!

the Picos Europa form a barrier behind the coast of Bilbao San Sebastian and other cities along the north coast of spain. They are magnificent and totally sublime. Travelling up from the plains of Spain (where it doesn't rain) is such a marvellous experience if not a little teeth clenching at times! You ascend through huge gorges cut out of the Picos and wind your way through the breathtaking scenery until you reach Fuente De and then continue to the coast. A virtually unknown delight

This is where we have spent few days driving around with my girlfriend during our roadtrip. And the amount of sights we witnessed was simply put, mindblowing. Let alone the roads themselves, opened up to so many "whoa" moments we have lost count at the end. This was just another reason, that makes us want to come back to Spain, since it is so amazingly beautiful and stunning!

An amazing experience at the first national park in Spain. Great hikes , plus you can do a 4 hours SUV tour of the view points

Very nice mountains and surroundings. With clear weather you can see sea. Higly reccomended.

Beautiful places. One day we went up with the cable car at Fuente Dé, walked up the mountain to find snow (3 hours back and forth), then walked down to where we parked the car (beginning of the cable cart) for aprox. 3 hours again, and found green fields, a little stream and forests. Recommend good footwear! Both are yellow/white routes.
