16th century fort whose batteries protected the entrance to the port of Ferrol, an important naval port to this day. Ferrol was once home to the Spanish Armada and so the fort and its batteries provided vital protection to the fleet during the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. Free entrance, well worth a visit.

Worth a visit especially because entrance is free and there are several sign explaining the history of the battle of Brion. I did not know that the English army attacked Ferrol back in 1800 and that they had to retreat thanks to Spanish triops defending this castle and its strategic location.

Very beautiful historic place. My boyfriends grandparents lived here. It is clean, rustic, quiet, and natural. I hope to be back soon as soon as possible. Clean bathrooms!

Bring comfortable shoes, snacks and your imagination. Was there for 2 hours and didn't get to see everything. Awesome.

This place is absolutely amazing. A large castle and fortification to explore and wander around in. Lots of history and highly recommended for kids and adults of all ages. The views and vantage points are second to none.

A must see in Ferrol. Impressive fort and great views. Children love to explore the many rooms and passages. It has been slightly renovated recently, but some areas are in disrepair. A path at the top of the castle also makes for a nice walk to the mouth of bay. Smaller castles in the way.

The Castillo San Felipe is an amazing visit. In addition to being a great place to explore it has amazing views all round. Best of all it is free to visit. If you want more information there are some excellent tours available as well through a private company.
