Impressive walk down the valley and amazing canyon and cave views when you reach the bottom. With all the birds singing and vultures flying on top, it is a serene place. Be mindful that you need to get a permit, rangers start checking from the morning. Getting the online permit is easy but you need to get it at least 24 hours before.

Very impressive walk. The bottom 250m are the hardest. We did the walk with two children, 5 and 8. And it took us aprox. 4 hours, Down and up. The mail attraction is the vultures soaring over your head. Remember plenty of water and booking the walk.

Great spot for a walk - lovely and quiet, apart from the noise of vultures circling above :-)

Took about an hour and a half to reach the bottom of the gorge, and about the same again on the way back. There are some tricky steep sections.

A beautiful hiking trail. But it definitely is a hefty one. After about 1.5 km of relatively easy hiking up the hill the decent into the canyon begins. It is really steep, slippery on some rocks and, of course, the way back is even more exhausting. The view and the canyon below is absolutely worth it, tho.

Simply stunning! The descent, the canyon, the river bed and finally the pink cave and stalactites at the base of the gorge.. The descent and subsequent ascent are not easy, needs proper hiking shoes and some previous experience.

Amazing view - we even saw 5 cultures up close with binoculars, as they were resting inside their little caves. Don't forget to get the permission, which is required (see picture for link).

The path is just outside the town on a single lane road. You'll see a road sign with a small dirt parking spots. You'll go through a little pedestrian gate and being the decent. Coming back up is the fun part.

Very steep and takes a bit longer than expected. Probably around 3 hrs, if you go all the way down to the cave

Firstly, I should note that in order to hike this trail, you're supposed to get permission (either by going to the visitor center in El Bosque or calling; if you don't speak Spanish, it might just be easier to do it in person). All they need is passport information for some reason, but you don't need to pay.

Driving to the trail is a great trip in and of itself. The parking lot is well-marked and there are spots for probably thirty cars. We hiked at the end of December, later in the afternoon and there were maybe five cars there, including ours. The temperature was perfect with the sun on us, but it would be killer in the middle of summer.

Before I go any further, I'll confess that we didn't make it to the end of the trail. We got there later than expected and after descended part of the way down to the canyon floor, we understood that if we were to reach the bottom, we'd be coming back up in the twilight. The descent was quite steep and the trail narrow and rocky in parts; it's not dangerous, nor does it require special skill, as we saw a few children accompanying their parents on the arduous return trip.

The first half of the trail, if it's all you do, is still enjoyable. Not too much up and down, though the scenery is nice, the air fresh. We stopped for some time under a cliff overhang at the beginning of the descent. A large number of griffons live there and they soar about the canyon. At that point, they'll fly above you no more than a few meters from time to time.

I was saddened we weren't able to finish the trail and even if you find yourself short on time (and with permission), I suggest you check out this trail.

First half of the hike is pretty easy and you might even get to see griffon vultures on thr way. Second half is either very steep downhill or very rocky and wet after getting to the bottom.

Compter 3 heures, aller/retour.
