La Taverna de la Serp

Stopped by for a quick drink after a long sunny evening of exploring the Sagunto castle.
Ended up filling myself up with their delicious tapas!!

The mushrooms with spring garlic and almonds is a must-try. The photo may not look appealing.. but I just loved the dish.

The prices are absolutely nominal.

Excellent ‘Roman’ tapas at very reasonable prices served by friendly, helpful staff in a fabulous setting just below the castle. We returned two nights running and will be back. Highly recommend.

Situated at the base of the castle overlooking Sagunto, La Taverna de la Serp is an excellent place to enjoy a beer. Friendly service and a great beer selection plus good food equals a fine establishment. Highly recommended if you find yourself hot and thirsty after wandering the Roman ruins.

We stumbled upon this place by accident and it was the best accident we could have hoped for. The food was amazing and we didn't know half the things we ordered. Just start ordering tapas and let the rest happen. Not to mention our server Francisco was so awesome recommending food and beers for us. He was so accommodating and funny, even with a full restaurant. They have a great selection of beers here, too. Just an absolute joy to find this place. When in town, we will definitely be back.

Sagunts most important place for evening hangouts. If you visit the town and dont come here for some bravas and wine you need to reconsider your priorities.

Nice atmosphere, friendly youngish people, music on Sunday lunchtime. Good food (snacks, sandwiches etc). Covered outside area so lovely and cool in the sun. Picturesque area. Bit of a hill to walk up.

La Taberna de la Serp offers a unique experience in Sagunto's old town. The friendliness of their staff and the originality of their tapas are unbeatable. Great selection of craft beers and traditional -albeit unknown- dishes at a very affordable price. Great vibes and live music on Sunday afternoon. Worth taking a look :)

Next to the castle...we enjoyed some nice food and some lovely entertainment on a sunday lunch time (a singer) friendly people and some are bilingual so was slightly easier for the ones who dont speak much spanish highly recommend this bar :)
