Albergue El Caminante

Nice place, owners were nice. The albergue was basic but suitable, much like all albergue's for the price. The pilgrim menue filled us right up. Very nice courtyard. The negative reviews aren't warranted.

Even had a nice cozy fire in the bar.

We stopped here for breakfast on our journey. The bacon sandwich was very tasty, the fried eggs were delicious and the coffee was top class.
Highly recommended for food!

We decided to stay in santa catalina de somoza because we wanted to avoid the hustle and bustle of the city. And it turned out to be an excellent idea. El Caminante is a lovely albergue run by a hard-working family. The owners and their daughter keep the place nice and tidy. The materasses of the bunk beds were comfy, we got disposable sheets and there were clean blankets you could use. I didn't eat dinner but thebpilgrims who did said it was delicious and abundant. There is definitely a rustic atmosphere but this is what makes it charming and authentic. The lady and her husband, simple and good-hearted people. I am happy we opted for this place.

Lovely couple running a clean and sensibly priced auberge. Big meal to fuel the next day over the mountain. I had a quiet but enjoyable time their.

Beautiful patio. All clean. Washer and dryer 4 euros each. Dinner 10 euros.

The place is clean and the food service is good, the price is reasonable, ten Euros a meal, ideal to rest after a day on the road to Santiago.

Best cake, home made! And a perfectly created cortado.

A bit more expensive but absolutely worth it. We had a superb Vega dinner.

Moi pour ma part je me suis trouvé bien dans cette auberge,ok l'accueil est un peu spécial mais je n'ai rien eu de transcendant en accueil sur tout le chemin,en fait si l'accueil devait être un critère de choix pour continuer ou finir le chemin je rentrerai direct chez moi sans le finir !!
Donc bel endroit avec même un ascenseur! J'ai bien mangé,simple mais bon, rien à redire.

Paramos a tomar un almuerzo después de pasar por Castrillo de los Polvazares donde todos los bares y restaurantes estaban cerrados a las 11 de la mañana de un sábado de Semana Santa.
La atención muy correcta por parte de las dos mujeres que estaban en la barra, y lo que pedimos estaba rico (Sandwich mixto y pincho de tortilla con café). Es uno de los pocos albergues que ha estado abierto todo el invierno, por lo que nos dijeron, y eso es de valorar.
También me encantó que venden fruta por piezas a un precio razonable.

Un gran ambiente ,con un patio muy cuidado con flores y unas mesas en la terraza de la calle frente a la iglesia que se puede apreciar el pueblo mientras se toma un vaso fresco de agua

No estuve en el Albergue por lo que no puedo opinar el alojamiento. Éramos peregrinos y veníamos andando desde Astorga, vimos al señor quitando el rocío de las sillas de la terraza, le preguntamos si estaba abierto y nos dijo que si. Nos tomamos un café con leche y vimos que tenia fruta y nos pedimos una pieza de fruta cada uno.

Lugar bonito y acogedor!!!! Muy limpio y muy tranquilo, todo acompañado de buen precio. También ofrecen un buen menú a buen precio y calidad. Buen trato de los paisanos que te tratan como en casa.
