It is worth visiting a medieval castle that served for centuries, from the 12th to the 20th, as a military fortress. Well preserved, it also offers tools for historical content, such as 3D projections, films, photos, objects and clothing. Beautiful views of the city of Holtalric and the Montseny Natural Park with the Montseny mountain in the center.

We were on our way back to Barcelona and saw the Castell from the highway and decided to stop. Parts are generally open to the public but there is a 5 Euro interactive tour you can do that we found worth it. You so have to hike up the hill but they have done a lot to make the site accessible inside. It also provided great views of the town and countryside.

Was closed on a Monday but you can still visit much of the grounds in and around the fort. Great views and imposing well preserved battlements.

We came when closed but even so the permissable walks around and within the perimeter of the castle were marvellous . great panoramic views.
